Help HTC Weather Widget not showing correct location

From looking at the dates on some of these problems, I'm guessing that I should be happy that it ever worked.

Sometime around midday on 12/15/10, mine stopped showing the weather on the widget. It updates and shows only the current location. When I open the weather, it say's the low temp is 0. and doesn't show the sun or moon. I can change it to one of the other location's I have stored and it works just fine. But when I change it back to the current location there's nothing.

I hadn't realized how much i relied on that function until I've spent the last half day without it.

Nope. This problem comes and goes.

Got up this morning - weather ok. Commuted to nearby city - weather ok. Got home - no weather. First time in about 2 weeks this has happened. 2 weeks ago - was like that for three days.

Has happened maybe a 1/2 dozen times since I got my phone 6 months ago.

It's intermittent. I really doubt that my Evo firmware from August and accuweather are conspiring over Gingerbread - really doubt it.

Right now - on the web - accuweather.com says my city - that existed this morning - does not exist now.

Mine has the location of another City from where I'm actually located in with no weather showing. Whats weird is the city or shall I say town its showing is a tiny rural town that I cant even get a 3g signal in and is about 20 mins from me. And I have never taken my phone to that town for it to even have that location show up on the phone.

I had this problem since yesterday. I live in NY but the default location kept saying San Diego, CA with their time. Deleting that location didn't work. I'd delete it and it would reappear back when I hit home or "back".

So, removed the widget, forced stopped it and cleared the data associated with the clock (in applications).

Then I added the widget back and San Diego was gone. Works now but what the hell happened?!

That, my friend, is the $64 question.

When a city doesn't show up in accuweather but the location is right on your widget, it's accuweather's fault.

When a city is ok on accuweather but your location is hosed, or there's no weather anyway - it's the phone's fault.

I think this kind of defect falls into the category of hokie-pokie-chicken-dance bug.

Until it's fixed or we know what the real problem is, gyrations similar to the bug itself seem to help.

Mine has started showing another city I have never heard of and changing time to match, a 5 hour difference. This is a major issue for me since I use the phone as an alarm clock and for scheduling alerts.

I don't see this as an accuweather issue since the time is over the Sprint network, there is a bad glitch somewhere. Rebooting may or may not fix it, turning off gps seems to fix it, but still requires a reboot.

Your time in notification bar is from Sprint - note it will be probably right when the widget is wrong - or - am I mistaken??

In any case, this hits HTCs on many carriers, even overseas.

By the way, for all interested in the weather/location issue - check out DanDroid's posts in this thread regarding the weather, starting here - http://androidforums.com/htc-thunde...get-wrong-location-problem-2.html#post2535440
