Help email notifications on dock

I haven't found an answer to this likely simple question, probably due to my generic search terms. Anyways, when I originally got my evo I signed into the phone using an account that I don't use now nearly as much. I wanted to switch the account email on the phone to the one I use everyday now. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find how to do this or if I even can (since all my purchases in the market are connected with this particular email account or something...)

Now, in the dock where I have my gmail icon set, it shows a little red number notifications of how many new emails I have. But it only shows it for the main email account. I have my main email synced in accounts, but its a secondary account and the new emails in that account are never shown in the dock bar (I have to open it to know if I have new emails. Is there something I've set wrong or can I set it to have the dock bar notifications include all synced email addresses?

sorry if that didn't make any sense.

That makes plenty of sense. Do I have an answer, no! I would try and contact Google some type of way about switching the apps. I see that being the only problem that you will have. Other than that you can just log out of your current main email to your Evo and log into the new email address. That is the only solution that I can think of but, good question.

hmm, okay thanks. Yeah I tried to go into accounts & sync and remove the outdated google account. It said "This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy."

Needless to say that isn't a good solution for me.

Just to clarify, data on your SD card will stay. So you can backup your apps using AppBrain, Contacts using Gmail. Calendar using Gmail. You can even can copy the entire contents of the SD to your computer. It really does not take long to set it back up.

yeah I know. Still haven't got a confirmation back from google though that they will allow me to sign into my phone using a different email address and keep my paid apps. So I don't see a point in doing so as it'll just make me use the same email and I'll be at the same place I am now.
