Hey guys,

I'm sure you get asked this all the time on these forums and sorry if i'm raking over old ground but i'm new here.

As an A**le iPhone user i am now looking to move to android. I am frustrated with how locked out and feature bare the iPhone is and the keyboard just doesn't work for me as i have big hands lol. I love the keyboard on the Galaxy S and it's a HELL of a lot better than the iPhone. (My misses has a Galaxy S) and apart from gaming and browsing i mainly text al the time.

My question is should i go for the normal Desire (looking at a 5 month old one with an OLED screen, before they started using SLCD) or should i go the extra mile and go for the Desire HD?

Since an eBay item (regular Desire) fell thorugh i have been researching more and now i am really not sure whether to go for the HD or not. I love the size and look of the thing and i love the HTC sense interface.

But then the Desire (older models) does have the OLED screen and has a better battery life.

Now battery life isn't a major concern for me as i always charge my phone, whatever it is every night without fail so no worries there. And i think i'd like the larger screen for media, games, browsing etc as i'd mainly be using it for that and texting (also a plus having a bigger screen for that too).

So i suppose everything points to the HD but i have heard a few things on trusted review sites i use often (tech radar, pocket lint) that always place the HD lower than the normal Desire, points wise etc (but never by much).

I suppose i'm posting here because you guys have the luxury of using the HD or Desire day in day out and i just wanted to know the deal. Is it worth the extra for the HD? Do you notice the screen difference? Does it stand up to the galaxy S? (My misses has a galaxy S and i have to say it's awesome and the screen is a beauty but i don't think it's quite optimised and as smooth as the HTC models).

If anyone could shed anymore light on my situation i would be grateful. Until then i have to put up with my misses flashing her Galaxy S in my face every chance she gets lol. (Although that is the phone that made me fall in love with Andriod, so :D).

Many thanks in advance.

Paul.

it is all a matter of personal choice to be honest... its what you like and what you feel will be best for you..

the desire is by no means a bad phone.. but i'd say that you need the 1.5gb internal memory on the DHD for all the apps.. true many apps can now be transferred to the memory card but quite a few still only rest on the phone's internal memory..

also the 4.3" screen... the bigger screen is a huge plus as you might have already seen with the SGS..

I found the Dolby with the headphones on really great too.. so that's another plus for the DHD..

the battery life has improved with the latest update.. and i really don't feel that the DHD has a poor battery life.. when one tends to use a phone so much it is quite obvious that the battery will drain..

then comes the build quality.. trust me.. samsung's plastic is no match for htc's aluminium.. plus the DHD has a flash whereas the SGS does not...

and as far as the screen is concerned i agree that the desire and the SGS have better screens.. but the DHD's screen is by no means poor.. only when you compare these phones side by side or really try to nitpick you will find a fault with it.. it appears to be somewhat washed out when compared side by side with the other two...

i agree i am biased to the DHD as i own it.. but i got it because i liked it over the other two phones..
