***Official Samsung Fascinate 2.2 Speculation Thread***

I doubt it, but with verizon allowing you to grab kies from their site is it possible that the DL09 update or whatever might be coming tomorrow could magically enable kies on the fascinate?

As for the 2.2 update like I had mentioned I'm with everyone else in wanting it, but in reality what exactly would it bring that would magically make the phone that much better? People are getting so worked up over this, but I'm not quite sure how this update makes or breaks keeping the phone for people. I play with my Incredible which has 2.2 and I haven't found anything that makes me go man this blows away my Fascinate. I guess I could see with 2.2 at least Gingerbread would be a lot quicker in getting here along with a much larger selection of Roms and Kernels?

Basically it's just Flash. Beyond that it's a status thing, I guess -- the phone certainly runs as well as I need it to. Extra ROM options won't happen until jt&birdman's AOSP project is done... which is nice, but frankly for basic stuff (dialer, toggles in notification shade, camera etc.) Samsung's TW setup actually beats AOSP.

Personally I'm more interested in Gingerbread -- maybe Google has finally fixed their media scanner code?

yeah really atm a heavily slimmed down touchwiz system with voodoo5 is actually a very response and fast setup.

aosp eclair is nice and all, but really its more important in that they got a lot of stuff to work that will carry over into froyo/gb...and its nice that while jt/bird work on getting gb with a gb kernel...punk kaos is working on getting gb/froyo working on an eclair kernel...so more chances of success :)

I'd like Flash and the ability to voice dial through bluetooth with vlingo.

But if there is an OTA soon that fixes GPS, it would satiate me for a little while ;)

According to an article on Softpedia.com Froyo for the Fascinate is suppose to be released tomorrow. I'll beleive it when I see it and can install it on my phone.
Here is the linkto the article. htttp://www.news/softpedia.com/news/Android.

There are lots of articles out but no true evidence. A lot of us believe it will be dl09 not froyo. But I would be happy to be wrong :D

O yea glad your a history teacher not english.. Id hate to offend with grammar ;)

There are a lot of new apps that won't run on anything less than 2.2. I'd like to be able to use them.

Yup. I've had my clean rom .9 dialed in right for what a month now. I still havent even tried aosp even once just to say I did all I heard was it wasnt any better than the set up I got now so I never tried it.

Every day we get closer to froyo and gb

I tried AOSP and my phone wouldn't ring. :(

I guess I'll just wait until something that works comes out. AOSP was nice, I just wish it had worked.

Amen. I came from a Droid 2, and was freaking out the first day I had the Samsung. I *knew* I wasn't hallucinating and had all these useful apps, once I poked around the internet I found out why.

Keeping my fingers crossed during the next 24 hrs, but I'm cautious to see what, if anything, even comes to our phones.

I just helped a buddy root and setup his HTC EVO 4G. We threw on the latest warm twopointtwo from "myn". Sweet 2.2 ROM. Fast stuff works. Comes with wireless tether, a custom startup screen, Astro file manager, and a sweet color scheme/theme already installed.

He said, "Wow, this is awesome." Even though I've been rooting and tinkering for a while, I found myself being amazed at all the cool shiznit out there for everyone else BUT US. Look at the custom 2.2 ROMs you can throw onto your Droid X WITH A LOCKED BOOTLOADER.

I only found a few scant stable ROMs available for the Fascinate, and none are of 2.2 yet, of course.

After helping set up that EVO I want to punch samsung in the FACE right now.

I wonder how many people are already hammering the check for updates feature on their phone already.

I wasn't until I read your post.....
