After a full day of having Froyo, I gotta say, I like the change.

Flash is huge. Very nice.

Battery life, is slightly better. But, I do have to use CKA so it does not shut off. Tried the live wallpaper method, but no luck...it still shut off. Will try to see what I can do for a new phone, but I have enjoyed my captivate thus far.

Battery experience is better. I never felt that I got an accurate reading on my phone. Seemed like it was all over the board, and I would get the plug in screen around 20%, and it seemed to pop up often. I did not get it until 15% today, and that was about an hour ago, and nothing since. Battery has been up for 12 hours of moderate use. No phone calls, tons of texting, and surfing the web and using my FB app. Not disappointed compared to what I had before.

I like the changes to the phone as a whole. I have not had any major issue, and most of anything that was minor was just me needing to tweek to my liking versus a problem.

I was considering rooting it, and still might root. But, as of now, I like what I have, and I am content with the new OS.

I went from rooted 2.1 to 2.2 with no problems. I didn't know if anything was going to be wiped out, so I removed my memory card. I took the SIM too for more safe measures. After the update, I rooted and enabled sideloading like I did with 2.1 and have never been happier. Battery performance is better, apps run smoother and now I can use Skype.

Had no issues, surprisingly. Still have to update my brother's Captivate to 2.2, but mine was plugged in and 10 minutes later I was running Froyo. The only thing I lost was my home screen configuration, but I'm not sure if mileage varies there or not.

I had downloaded and installed drivers before, but I made sure to hook it up in debugging mode anyway. I don't think I did anything exceptional to get my phone to update properly- the software just so happened to work with my laptop's specs and OS.

Vista 32bit, been looking at the yellow worker droid screen "downloading" for an hour now...........can I just unplug and try again? I don't want to stop it in the middle and end up with a paperweight.......

As others have said "If you see your computer say device driver was loaded, you can just unplug it and go to the next step. It will stay on that screen as long as you allow it to."

Doesn't it depend on what step your on" I got that screen twice. The first was updating the drivers, and that's when it says that once the computer says it's done you can unplug it. The 2nd time it got it was when it was actually downloading and installing the update. At this piont I had a progress bar on the screen from Kies that kept me updated. I'd be awfully nervous about disconnecing it it was to the point where it was downloading, or especially installing, the update.

Upgraded my phone and my wife's with no problems.

Only one weird thing happening with mine right now. Every 20 mins or so it starts playing a song from my library all by itself. I open both music players that I have and neither one shows it playing. It quits if I pull the top bar down or hit the task killer. Very strange.

No problem upgrading, other then my home widgets disappeared. It took only a minute to reset them up. Now that I upgraded, my exchange server e-mail is directed to the phone instantly. It used to take upwards of several hours to receive e-mails on 2.1. Also, my old password would sometimes freeze when logging in and I would have to restart the phone. Since upgrading, the password login screen has changed and works great. Overall, I am very happy with the upgrade, especially since I can transfer any apps I purchased to my SD card.

My only gripe, sometimes my custom ringtone resets its self for no reason to very annoying ringing sound. I had this problem with 2.1 and now still with 2.2....not a huge deal as it does not happen all the time.

Stock, minor problems

Kies Mini acted weird on my PC and have me a couple scary moments, and for some reason it took 15 minutes to download the binaries, although my connection is fast. But no major problems and I am now happily running Froyo. GPS is performing noticeably better -- I never had a problem with lag and overall responsiveness seems about the same. Now I'm off to grab a couple of apps I couldn't enjoy until now...

i tried to do the stock upgrade, but i couldn't get it to work.

i have win 7 64-bit and tried both ways there were listed. the one on samsung didn't do anything and the older version of kies listed my device as not upgradable.

so i just ended up flashing the phone with a custom ROM. luckily, that worked.

oh well, i really wanted to try the official upgrade.. but at least i'm able to get something.

You may be *better* off with the custom ROM from what I have read with some of the posts here. I have not downloaded it yet. I am debating this issue....d/l offical update or to say "To hell with that, bring on the ROMS" Trying to weight the pro's and con's....I am still trying to rub out the bad taste left in my pallet by the slow pace this update took.

I have a stocked phone and had one minor problem. When I went to install the drivers my phone was on the downloading screen for about an hour with nothing else happening. I got tired of waiting and took the cable out, took out the battery, replaced it, restarted the phone, etc and went onto step 4. It went perfectly after that, maybe 30 minutes to finish the installation.

Phone works great. I haven't found anything to be missing. GPS/Maps found my location right away, but I never had an issue with that before.

eta: It's been about 2 hours since I posted my original reply. Only issue that's started coming up is even though I'm using WiFi right now it's been saying the internet is not connected. Not all the time, but enough that it's annoying and made me feel the need to edit this post.

Amazing update.

Super smooth. Just followed the directions posted by Samsung to the word and worked perfectly

Stock Rooted 2.1 JF6 --> Stock 2.2

Everything is just great. Don't hestitate. Upgrade.

My phone never had the random shut off problem (actually, it did it once or twice the first couple weeks of having the phone, but removing all the bloatware fixed that!), but did have GPS issues. Haven't tried the GPS yet but am very optimistic.

I'm a bit surprised at the results of the poll. Not that it has gone so well for most folks, but that the bulk of the people here had stock phones. I had thought I was one of a handfull that hadn't at least rooted, let alone installed a custom rom (although I did root just prior to the upgrade in order to do a full backup).
