Help me choose a phone

Robo! <<<gasp>>> LOL.
I am really happy with the changes I've noticed so far. I love being able to use the wifi calling function. I also got my call waiting function back, too. So yay! I might get something new this summer but at least now I have the patience to wait until July or so. However, unless other phones start carrying Super Amoled or its equivalent I doubt I'll find anything I'll want to trade for. As a side note, I haven't tried the GPS since I DL'd 2.2. I've heard it screws with it (shocker, right). I went ahead and DL'd GPS restore and ran it to be on the safe side.

I don't know what the build date is on your phone or if you followed what happened to me when I did a warranty exchange.

As you may recall the GPS worked on my Vibrant before any of the updates. It was slow locking sometimes but worked accurately enough. Then I had to do a warranty exchange in November due to a haptic feedback problem. I told the customer service rep that I did not want to get a phone that had GPS problems because my GPS was working.

He said, "Don't worry, I can guarantee that will NOT be an issue..." I thought it was odd that he expressed so much confidence in a phone that obviously was problem prone in the GPS area for so many. Anyway, a new phone arrived in a retail (Avatar logo) box. Build date mid-October. GPS better than ever! More satellite locks, faster lockup, etc. I noticed that over on xda people were commenting about phones with build dates after mid October were working better. Something to think about. Good luck!

I've exchanged mine I think 4 times. I have no clue what the build date is of my current model! How can I find out? I'm not sure if I've even used the GPS while driving on my latest replacement. I did turn it on last night while sitting in bed to see if it could find me and it did. I've had Vibrants that couldn't find me unless I was outside. So that was a good sign.

Easiest way is if you have a retail box with the white stickers on it. However, if the exchange phone you received was refurbished (i.e. came in a white box with no stickers) just look under the battery. There is a white sticker with a serial number for example
S/N: xxxxxxxxx 10.10 where the 10.10 is the month and year of manufacture. Hopefully, your month and year will be 10.10 or later.

And yes, your Vibrant's GPS finding you while indoors is a very good sign. :)

There are 2 numbers that start with 10. The first number is listed under the FCC ID and it is 10.07. Lower down it says Made in Korea and under that it says STA 10.12
So... help me out :) When was it mcftd?

Also, I wanted to report that I used the GPS today. It worked really well. It was actually a lot faster than the last time I used GPS. So it is either the handset or froyo. I didn't go very far though (15 minutes) so I didn't sufficiently test it.

Sounds like your GPS is much improved - that's great! The mfg date is to the right of the serial number. S/N: xxxxxxxxxxxx 10.10 in my case. There is some space between the SN and the date but both are on the same line. :)

Weird. Mine doesn't say S/N. I wonder if that has something to do with it being a refurb...

That is weird...

However, just to eliminate any possible miscommunication, I have shot and uploaded a photo of my SN tag so you can compare:
