Got It......It's fast....it's really REALLY fast...

damn, you get all these phones early...lucky you
HAHA...honestly it's not like I have a permanent hook up. It's just luck lately...I was supposed to get Flash 10.1 for the N1, but my contact couldn't give up the beta version. So instead they said they'd get me the HD2 with Flash 10.1 on it so I can test some work stuff on it.

So this one was pure luck.

Sorry for the off-topic post here everyone, but I just have to ask..

3rd-Geer - is there a different forum that you'll be posting your impressions on the HD2 when you get it? I'm only asking because I sent my Nexus One the minute I heard that the HD2 was confirmed for the US. I've been lusting after it for months now and just can't wait for it to be released to be honest.

Here's the T-Mobile placeholder for now: HTC HD2 - Exclusively from T-Mobile

If you want the HD2 why don't you just buy it now? There is no difference between the one t-mobile will sell and the one available now. also if your on t-mobile now, you wont be getting any discount.

Because the current version doesn't have a radio that will do 3G with T-mobile. I don't really want an $800 HD2 that doesn't even do 3G. And I'm not with T-Mobile, but I don't want their discounts either since I'll be getting it contract free. Thanks for your input though.

Question: What do you want from the HD2? I thought about it too as I'm a long time WM User. But to be honest: The flexibility you'll get with the N1 is much better, an AppStore isn't really existing (ok, there are plenty of apps for nearly everything, but they a shattered all around), Win Mobile 6.5 isn't the big shot (hope for WM7, but until then you'll be imho better off with a N1), there are nearly no games (at least games witch can make use of all the gorges functions of the HD2 because of OS limitations), you might find the one or another app witch won't even work on WM 6.5 (encountered this problem when I flashed may Xperia X1 to 6.5) and even if, if the app isn't in some way finger friendly you might get problems using it (ok, you'll have a huge screen, but maybe).
The only pro for the HD2 is that there are quite reliable rumours that it'll be upgraded to WM7 (and at least the XDA Devs will do). But even then is WM7 brand new and won't have so much developers in the background (but hopefully get by time).

That explains why this platform is losing around 15-20% marketshare in the quarter where the overall smartphone market is expanding. The only bright spot on WM world is the fact that xda devs are still working on the OS, HTC is still improving Sense UI to mask the ugliness that is Windows Mobile.

Windows Mobile smartphone sales plunge 20% in Q3

Winmo 7 is coming to light very soon and if Winmo 7 didn't come close to challenge iPhone, Android, or Blackberry, this operating system is pretty much finished. Can't wait for that glorious day where a rotten OS is out of the market due to its own incompetence and insistence on legacy support :)

Interesting...I haven't heard much about the HD2 because I think it's only out in the UK right? Here I think it's going to be called the Leo...I'm actually getting it this week, so I'll confirm on that...but as for the N1, there is no pink halo...but sometimes indoors it gives a bit of a yellow tint. You have to change the settings to make it clear.
oh , i'm getting all impatient , DHL service says shipment info recieved , so i guess they are going to ship it today.
3-rd gear , you lucky bastard:D you get HD2 AND N1? hehehe
well one last thing , many people admitted the colors on N1 Amoled display is over saturated , since it has been shown that the screen is provided by samsung , which makes the same screens incorporated in their device , Omnia II , and people said something about that screen as well , do you have any complaints about the screen being too flushed? one even said the black is not black ( the one thing AMOLED screens were suppose to do ).
thnx again mate

LOL....just for testing flash 10.1 because apparantly I'm being told it has a seperate chip that will allow for their latest version....or so I'm being told by my contact.

Anyways, as for the screen I have no complaints at all. I've dropped a lot of my video demos on to this phone to use in presentations and meetings and it's always a winner when I bust it out to show some of my work as videos. I love it personally.

I don't know if I'll do this whole thing again for the HD2 with Flash 10.1. It's actually a sh-t load of work, although I'm being told I should set up a seperate site and forum that will allow the community to literally QA the device as I did in this thread.

The non-believers etc kind of annoyed me at first but what are you gonna do. I was on this thing posting like 18 hours a day and trust me...I was definitely pissing my wife off lol.

I completely agree - I'm sure it'll be work for you. But when you're having this much fun at work, why not eh? :)

All kidding aside - I'm sure you will have tons of devoted followers eagerly awaiting information on the HD2 and we can all vouch for the thorough and credible job you've done here with the N1. Don't sweat the non-believers, the world we live in is a cynical place, it's completely par for the course. But you proved the naysayers wrong comprehensively and as politely as you could. Props to you for that.

No need to set up a separate site etc - feel free to use one of the popular forums out there like PPCGeeks and you will automatically have a large audience from day 1. That community is VERY large and very active with all things related to Windows Mobile. Just check out the Touch Pro 2 threads there right now.

Everyone - I apologize again for the off-topic posts.

3rd-geer, do you honestly think that the N1 is better than the 3GS right now? I'm torn between a 3GS, N1 or maybe even waiting for the next iPhone, although I have no idea when that would be.
Rumor is that Apple will show off the new iPhone on January 27th. So if you're really torn, I suggest waiting the 12 days to see what the 4th generation iPhone has to offer.

I've been playing with the N1 for about a week and I previously had a 2nd gen iPhone. There are somethings you give up with going with the N1, but there is also a lot you gain.

Losses
- pinch-zoom in native google apps
- polished interfaces
- multi-touch keyboard

Gains
- simultaneous apps
- customizable home screen (widgets, wallpaper, etc)
- unofficial apps (installing things outside the app store)
- fewer restrictions to hardware abilities (direct access to camera, etc)
- non active-directory gmail push
- less intrusive notifications

This is the second android phone I've owned. I previously owned a Droid for a week and took it back because Verizon can't do voice+data.

Also using the N1 on ATT EDGE isn't that bad. Browsing speed isn't as nice as 3G of course, but still very usable.

Not trying to be a jerk, but if simultaneous data & voice is important to you, then why are you using your N1 with AT&T?

I mean, since the N1 on AT&T is EDGE only, you still cannot do data & voice simultaneously.

When I got the N1 I wanted to start playing with it, so I took the SIM card out of my iPhone and put it in the N1 and used it for the rest of the day. I currently have an account with TMobile and 3G is much nicer.
