The HTC Sensation is finally here!! What do you all think? :D

I bought the Desire when it came out and found limitations due to memory.

Desire HD fixed that and I've been ultimately impressed except for 2 things - battery life is shite to say the least and no front camera. No front cam not a major issue but my Nokia 2.5g of 5 yrs ago had this, so DHD really had no excuse not to have one. I like the front cam for video calls when sprog is away and for VOIP..

hopefully the Battery life will be better and the processors more efficient. Phone makers really need to improve on this over anything else. Features are all but useless when the phone dies before the end of the day is through!

Having said that I have just registered for the Sensation :)

Funny that battery life is a concern for you yet you still keep buying HTC phones, I know new SoC's are more efficient but that's no use to the user when the manufacture puts in a worse battery.

Are you saying that Tegra 2 is better than the Dual Core snapdragon?

I'm not sure who this is targeting at but I'll reply.

We don't have enough benchmark results available to really say for certain which is faster overall, but I would say thanks to Adreno 220 the dual core snapdragon has the edge for games at least.

But it's not a huge advantage, not enough to be a difference, bascially if a game works on Adreno 220 it will work on Tegra 2 and vice versa.

Do you guys reckon we'll be getting these sort of specs in a smaller phone or is it just too much to squeeze in? I understand the appeal of having a larger screen, but I like my phone to be a little more pocketable. A lot of phones out recently are looking like mini tablets. I still think desire is an ideal size - but would be happier with smaller bezel and higher resolution. I don't know why it's taking android phones so long to catch up on that regard.

maybe I like the functionality of the phone ;)

IP4 and any other large screen phone suffers crap battery life if you use it as intended.

I will wait to see what battery life in for the first couple of weeks though before jumping in.

Also 2.3 might introduce further improvements as outlined in the version upgrade

I think the desire HD is the ideal size for me....

horses for courses I suppose. I struggled with the Desire as buttons too small for texting.

Of course. Just because the specs are much better than before doesnt mean chip is bigger in size physically. They could fit in a Desire sized phone. You'll just need to wait for HTC or any other manufacturer to release one :)

tough choice between the two.

for me its something never really listed. the sound. i need to hear the thing ring, you know...the phone part of it? (lol)
a friend has the desire HD and im dissapointed with its volume. If HTC fix it up with this model, ill look at it...im not saying SGS2 will be better, but thats a key point for me over extra gigs or wieght etc....

Vodafone are pretty good. I know that up to the Desire all their Android phones are unlocked and unbranded. I expect the same for the Sensation. They once tried a Desire update with some Vodafone 360 bloatware on it and people went nuts. They quickly stopped. The good signal coverage, unlocked phones and lack of bloatware is what keeps me with Vodafone.

I can only assume you have never got a phone direct from vodafone then??? Although I got my DHD from them right at the start, so is unbranded sim free, all current DHD's from them are full of vodafone crap. The desire and the wildfire are full of crap unless like me you were lucky enough to get the update that removed all the crap off the desire. Lets just hope the first ones that come to vodafone are generic like the DHD was, and lets hope that someday the networks leave the phones as they are and stop forcing their crap on the end user, who most of the time never uses the crap anyway.

yeah i wont have a phone unless its generic. I always but from CarphoneWarehouse for that reason. I had a phone from Orange once and i hated all the shit that was on it, like the themes were all white and orange, the internet browser logo was a orange house, updates are slow cos they are not direct from HTC, its just horrible like that. Generic is the way to go :D
