But that's the point isn't it. It isn't up to them, it should be up to us. You make it sound like they have some kind of right to collect geographical information of our whereabouts. I can assure you they do not.
In the developed world, one of our key principles is freedom. I should be able to go anywhere I want, without anyone else knowing (unless seen obviously). The idea that now, some multinational corporation could be clocking my every move is sickening. I don't care whether they actually use it or who has access to it. The fact remains there is something tracking every step I take.
I will quote 1984 just for drama
"Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimetres inside your skull."

And, I realise that in moderation this may be minimal. These dystopia novels all give a similar message. They warn of 2 things...
1. The horrors of true state control and oppression.
2. The complicity of the public to do nothing about this. To sit back and watch until it is too late.
Call me cynical, but the public's reaction to this, in a way, demonstrates number 2.
