well even a zip aligned/deodexed version is quite welcome. Stock GB seems pretty nice so far. A bit cleaner looking than froyo as well as snappier. Though I did manage a reset while doing the auto update of four apps and zipping around email and the web. Unresponsiveness, a bunch of vibrates and then sprint screen. Kinda chuckled.
That will make me happy then, I can look forward to that I have been thinking about trying out the gingerbread ROM, but decided to hold off until the official release, and a gb ROM gets released, because what I have is working perfectly for now.
any idea whether gingerbread will address the problems w/ the SD card? i just got this phone and am finding it to be very annoying that i have to always unmount and remount the SD card...

it would have been a big slap in the face if epic got GB before the evo. htc would not have let that happened. oh well. still, it looks like epic will get GB soon enough, not 6 months later.

Correct, no US versions have received the official GB release.
Having dabbled with the GB leaks, there is no doubt that it's on it's way though and coming along nicely. Personally, if I wanted the latest and greatest updates and wanted them timely, I'd go with a Nexus.
HTC, IMO, is no better than any of the others and looking through the track record of ANY manufacturer you can find the same issue of slow releases.
And now to keep this topic from going toooo far off track, I thought I read something on XDA that said the rumor was somewhere between the 15th and 20th of this month. Time will tell!
I'm just shooting the breeze. I have no idea what sprint, htc or samsung are thinking regarding GB releases. Too much corporate politics to speculate.
Evo came out in June'10 and sported froyo soon after. Epic end of Aug'10 with froyo 6 months or so later. Just thinking that HTC would work hard to not let samsung beat them to the punch (on sprint).
If Epic gets GB end of this month, then it's not the same MO...we'll see.
