Root [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Beta (5/3/2011)

I'm not sure if this is possible, and I tried to find an answer, but I don't even know if I'm searching for the right stuff...

I want to replace the notification bar that comes with Apex, with the one from Moto's leaked GB. I liked it's color and different icons better...

Anyone know if this is possible, and if so, can direct me to a place where I can learn how to do this?

Ok, I figured it out. For those of you who don't know, start searching for how to edit the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk. There are tools that can help with this (like Ninjamorph), but I found it really easy to actually use the ADB command-line tool and get the files I needed to swap out. It worked pretty well actually.

On another note, this ROM isn't problematic at all. In fact, I've had it up for about 24 hours now, and it's pretty good. All my apps restored, I have Settings, battery life is good (lost maybe 20% over the course of eight hours), and this things is FAST. Just follow Fab's directions in the beginning and you'll be all set.

Anyone have a long GPS lock time? My GPS takes about 3-4 minutes to lock on within the Maps app.

i was having a problem with it as well, it worked for the first day or so, then it stopped, i had it turned on but it wouldnt lock on, gpstest just said it was off, is there any fix out now for the gps issue, i love the rom, but i get lost easily and i need my gps and navigation.

I am without a phone now! Cannot get a good sbf at all. No idea why. Tried to get GB leak but now stuck on Bootloader err:eek::thinking:

use the guide http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/312755-gb-back-2-3-340-help.html

install rsd lite 4.9, get the Android 2.2.1 System Version 2.3.340 Full (VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01)

put the phone in the flashing mode, revert back.. i had the same problem trying to go from froyo .340 to gb .595 and i busted my phone up, for a second i thought i had a 200 paper weight, but i followed the guide and got my phone working, and on the apex rom that same day. so like they say, nobody leaves here with a bricked phone. i forget who says it.

I fixed the issue by downloading the app GPS Status. Within the app, you can download the GPS data. Set the option to download if the data is older then a day. This should fix the load time.

If I may get someone to please shed some light on Apex 2.0 on my Motorola Milestone X.

System ver. 3.1.39.MB809.ACG-nTelos.en.US
2.2.1
Baseband ver. BP_C_02.06.00R
Kernel Ver. 2.6.32.9-gace4441
qgd748@il93lnxdroid09 #4
Build number NTEL

Im on the Ntelos network. I am rooted.

Thanks

follow the guide on the site, but before that, upgrade to froyo to .340, use z4root to root the phone, upgrade to .588 via the three step process, backup, install kernel update, apex 2 step one, boot. then reboot and install step two, reboot.....easy peasy. I think thats how you can do it, i have VZW so im not sure how your setup works.

Hmm, now I can't get into my "Settings", incl. WiFi, for my phone. I remember being able to get into them after I installed Apex, but then I used Titanium to restore a bunch of crap and had issues with syncing, so I restored my nand backup from after I finished installing Apex 2.0 and it didn't fix it. I think I restored some system settings Going to Wipe Data/Factory Reset and if needed will SBF back and reinstall everything today fresh and be careful about what I reinstall to try and avoid this again. Uf! Oh well, the joys of being unlocked from Moto's grips. :D

Finally got it all up and running, was very selective with the apps I restored in TiBu, basically limiting it to only games and misc apps like RealCalc, Seesmic, Handcent, etc. But I did not include any of the google apps (gmail, youtube, maps, etc.) and that seems to have kept all in working order. Oh TiBu how you're awesome and so freaking horrible at the same time.

ANYWAYS, the ROM is smoking and I haven't even OC'd yet. Right now it's working great (just as Apex 1.3, 1.4.x were), so thank you very much Fab!

This may be another thing that I am just noticing since I went right from ApeX 1.4 to ApeX 2.0 and spent no time on stock GingerBlur but...

My battery life is poor. Like really poor. With the extended battery on ApeX 1.4 I could easily go 24-30 hours. Yesterday I took my phone off the charger at 7:30 am, had a very light day of usage, and by 9:30 I was seeing the 15% warning - which I had NEVER ever seen on any FroYo based rom. Nothing weird is sticking out in the battery manager.

Any ideas folks?

I wanted to update this. I have it figured out.

It's Words With Friends. I've gone all week without opening it and I am at 80% battery today at 5:50 pm and it came off the charger at 8:30 am. Nothing else has changed.

The battery life I apprecaited in Apex 1.4 is certainly here in 2.0.
