I don't believe my eye's - Metro Reported Maintenance

Could it be? A maintenance schedual for both planned and unplanned maintenance of MetroPCS?

A few weeks back everyone was going crazy with the network going down and no one knew anything more. metro was blaming google yet non android phones were being effected.

right now im looking at a page on MX Telecom that lists system maintanace status when carrier's give them info on Maintanance. MetroPCS is listed as having SMS maintanance today at 9:00

This may be something we can look at when we experiance issues to see if metro is planning the outage or posted about an unplanned outage. Strange how you have to get this info from a 3rd party company and Metro themself dont know anything about it.

good find.

But it's like Comcast, when they do overnight maintenance on their ISP network here in Atlanta. Internet goes down around 2 a.m., you call customer service -- in India, they make you jump through all the scripted hoops of turning off and on the modem for 30 seconds, rebooting your computer, bypassing your router to plug in modem straight, still nothing -- and it magically all clears up around 5 a.m.

First couple of times it happened I actually scheduled a service call! Which I then had to cancel, as the next day every thing was fine.

Happened again about a week later. Scheduled another service call, and again had to cancel.

Then, I saw the pattern -- about once a week from 2 a.m. - 5 a.m. Comcast's internet is wonky. It's SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE.

Just TELL me that instead of making me do useless stuff. Or tell your customer service people in India that, so they can actually help people who need help. "Sir, it's scheduled maintenance, everything should be back up and running by 5 a.m."

I bet Metro is the same. They do this stuff and internally the maintenance is scheduled, known, planned -- but they don't even bother telling customer service. Why would they need to know? :p

Sorry you had such trouble with Comcast Chazz. I always got stateside support in the 10+ years I've had them. I was told right off the bat about downtime/maint if not by the automated system when calling in, by the CSR when I got to a live person. Almost everything has weekly, bi-weekly or monthly maintenance now. Most banks choose Sunday from 2am-5am. Sucks when you go on a 3am food run after being out all night Saturday and can't check your balance, lol.

Ha! I used to work Tier II Tech Support for AT&T Internet and our first tier in India would have you go through all the hoops, waste an hour of your time then transfer you to me where I just go, "Yup, there is an outage, hang in there buddy."

Those damn First Tier's just read scripts and don't think of checking outage boards and events. They're that stupid.
