Anyone that can comment on Free GPS for Eris?

Nav4all is free. It works great, but is a little bare bones for some people. It does get the job done.

And.Viser is rated really well although I have not tried it personally and don't know anyone else who has either.

CoPilot and TeleNav both cost money. CoPilot is reviewed on Phandroid and cost a one time fee of $35. TeleNav is a pretty good program that works well and has a 30 day trial. It cost either $9.99 a month or $99 a year.

As for wake time and requiring an app killer, I have no idea.

wouldn't "Google Maps" that comes with the phone fit this category?

No, it is not turn by turn spoken directions.

I'm trying out WisePilot which works well, however, I hear it is a trial. There is no indication when downloading or installing this app that it is a trial version. It is obviously a European based company (british accent on the woman's voice, "colour", etc) but has worked well for me in California thus far. I have heard it costs $100/year there after which translates to $8.33/mo. which seems reasonable and competitive with Telenav.

I'm using Nav4all on my Eris. While it's not going to make me throw away my Garmin, that's mostly because of the screen size and clarity (which could also be a function of my 50 year old eyes). Until/unless the Google turn by turn becomes available for the Eris (and is proved to be a better program) I'll keep the Nav4All on my phone. It's turn by turn directions are clear (I use the 'fun British female' voice) and timely, and it seems to know where it's going. I'm sure it would get me from point A to point B with no problem.
