• After 15+ years, we've made a big change: Android Forums is now Early Bird Club. Learn more here.

Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

Honesty, Lets say you order it on the 21st, with next day shipping. I do believe the 21st is only for online orders. Lets say that a at best you will get it on the 22nd. At worst, and trust me this will happen, you will get it on the 24th or 25th, even with next day shipping.

But your best bet is to order it online from the sprint store, pay the 20-30 dollars in next day shipping, and hope sprint can get it processed and out the door in 48 hours.

Honestly, unless you are in dire straits, as in own a iphone or blackberry, there is zero reason you should get the 3d on release day, I would wait until 3-4 weeks after the release date, to be honest.

i would not call it the "best" way to get it.

there are a lot of variables that come into play when ordering this sucker on the 21st. there could be delays in processing, ups could be backed up, weather issues at the hub, an abundance of orders, etc etc.. remember people will be ordering other phones and accessories on the 21st.. this is not a black out day just for evo 3d orders.. so there will be thousands of orders placed..

if you want to chance it, order on the 21st. if you are close to the KY hub then its a good possibility you can get the handset on the 22.

i plan to order on the 21st and i plan to get the phone on the 22. i also have a pre order at bby so i am covered either way.

but, the best way in my opinion is go to a sprint corp. store on the 24th and get it right there.

This would pretty much be perfect timing in anticipation of any possible bugs, i.e. an OTA update to fix said bugs along with a push for a possible unlock of the bootloader. That is, if both of those things are necessary. No info either way until we get the phones in our hands.

If there isn't a thread up when I get back from getting my phone, I'll start a "First impresions" kind of thread.

I was told by 2 different Sprint people every one is getting the phone on the 24th. Just cause you order it on the 21st doesn't mean you'll get it the next day. I am in Kentucky where the hub is and I would like to order on the 21st but I have one on preorder already and I don't know who's right and who's wrong so waiting from the 22nd if I really was to get it then till the 24th I guess is ok by me. And if you people really get it on the 22nd the next day I'll be jealolus. :-(

overnight shipping should be standard on this order.

I was told the same as well by echat but whats the point of being a premier customer if you gonna get it the same day as everyone else. Basically that would mean that you would be better off just pre-ordering it at the store compared to doing it online. Also, I have been with sprint for almost 10yrs and I have always gotten my phone the next day 10 times out of 10 unless the next day falls on a saturday/sunday. So at this point I am not worried, I look forward to getting my 3vo on the 22nd.

Nobody is going to receive the phone earlier than the 24th. Just like dual core does not make the 3VO more battery efficient. The bigger battery is why the phone will last 5 hours with nonstop usage opposed to 4 hours you would get from the standard EVO 4G battery.

Honestly, how can we really tell unless we used the phone ourselves.

I agree and I asked what's the purpose of being premiere and ordering it on the 21st and I was told it's so your guaranteed one cause others may order after and not get one. I have no idea but the hub is here in Kentucky and I have always gotten mine the next day also but since I already preordered I'll just wait.

Well that's good that overnight shipping is standard. So the benefit of ordering online on the 21st would be to POSSIBLY get it sooner...but then isn't online activation free vs getting charged for activation in a store? That seems like a double benefit so I don't see why you wouldn't just order online if you are a premier customer.

The only drawback I can think of is if it requires a signature on delivery and you work during normal delivery hours.

As a premiere customer you get yearly upgrades. Why would you expect us to get the phone earlier than everyone else? Didn't happen last year why would it this time?

And why would we want to wait 3-4 weeks to get this phone. I didn't wait that long for the evo I don't plan on it for the 3vo. I had no bugs with the evo.

The rep on the premeir community site confirmed orders placed on the 21st before 4pm will ship on the 21st via overnight. If the demand is higher than they can hamdle, some phones may go out on the 22nd via overnight.

I'll believe a sprint rep that is part of the early order group over some nobody on a message board that is just making statements with nothing to back it up.

They've left my phone on the front step before. So it may depend on your area. To avoid this I just have it shipped to my office.

Well didn't premier customers get the palm pre early? What about the echo, didn't premier customers get that early as well? Even though it didn't happen with the evo 4g last year it has happened with other phones.

Remember how hard it was for people to get the Evo 4G after launch? It might be easier said than done to get one 3-4 weeks after launch.

I doubt this phone sells like the Evo, but you never know.

you order online there is no activation charge.

i have every belief its possible to get the handset on the 22 if order is successfully processed by 4pm central time and you are reasonably close to the KY hub...

I could be mistaken, but I thought I recently read Sprint ended their waiving of activation fees for online orders. Or maybe it was phone orders?

I briefly tried to find some evidence but I couldn't find any quickly. It may not matter either way, Sprint Premiere customers used to (maybe still do) get an activation fee waived. And sometimes other discounts can waive an activation charge, the most recent one I read was AAA (Triple A).

I'm not trying to be a smart Aleck, just double checking with the collective.

all you have to do is email CS and ask them. I've been told by a SP rep there would be no activation charge if done at sprint.com. i have it in writing for me. do the same for you and there is no need to get a consensus from the "collective". its common for sprint to waive this fee if you ask them about it. being an SP member in good standing helps. i have not had to pay an activation fee since vision was enabled back in 2001.

back to the subject, ive "read" the fee will apply to online orders but have yet to have that happen. i purchased a novatel 4g mifi just a month ago or so online and no activation fee. i am not going to be charged an activation fee for the evo 3d when i place the order tomorrow either.

Good advice. Being Premiere is a big help though too. They maybe aren't being as gracious to average customers. Glad you have purchased something recently as that is the best evidence against the rumors hopefully.
