The only thing that makes me wait on the Xoom is the Tethering (Open), I My HTC phone, Turn by Turn Nav. GPS and the $800 price tag. I would already have a Xoom if they had priced the darn thing right!

The CNET side by side test only shows a slight lag in the IPAD 1 web browsing which is now void with the Ipad 2 coming out.

IPAD 2- Mature apps, Mature accessories, Brighter screen (imo), price, size and no matter what you say size will matter in the long run.

If you're referring to reliability, that's a good question. Personally, I avoid refurbs. As a rule if they didn't believe something was hosed, it'll be unchanged and defective on delivery.

WiFi-only Xoom is going to have to chime in at or below the 32GB iPad 2. I have seen no hype from over a hundred people on Facebook about the Xoom, and saw a few posts about the iPad 2 today. People really don't know or care about the Xoom; the know the reliability and power of iOS and Apple's mobile devices.

My mileage varies and took over a month to get what I paid for, working, after a supervisor stepped in to shut me up.

So, the $350 refurb was just to argue some obscure point, I guess.

I'm leaning towards the HTC Flyer, with a stylus for quick content modifications, something I've admired on Win tablets for some time.

I didn't say irrelevant, nor did I make a mod comment. Just a personal note that, to me, where you were going with that was obscure, because I thought about it, couldn't see how it was fitting your otherwise logical decision points, so I called it that way. Wrong word?

Anyway, I thought your follow-on was interesting because requirements always are, to me.

I had a Xoom. I returned it once I got the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Xoom was nice and quite robust. Well built. But it was notably heavier than the TF and the Tab 10.1. I've had time with all three and each have pros and cons. The Tab just fit me best as it was light and easy to handle. The TF wasn't too bad in this regard, but given the quality control issues my TF had, and that I wondered how much more comfortable the Tab can be, I returned the TF. The Xoom's weight was more cumbersome and I found I didn't need the HDMI or the MicroSD slot so I decided to try the Tab. I returned the Xoom the same day I got the Tab. That said, one thing I will miss is the HD speaker dock. It was particularly nice when I just wanted to put music in a particular area temporarily (outside for a BBQ for example). The sound was loads better than the built-in speakers but nothing to write home about. But it definitely reduced the number of things I have to carry to set up a tablet for music. The Galaxy Tab has a dock, but you have to supply your own speakers.

If you are looking at getting a tablet in general I can tell you my latest expedition. I first purchased an I pad 2. I played with it for a few days. I have a Droid phone so the I pad was basically my first apple product. I found the I pad to be a bit limited on everything besides the apps. My Droid phone seemed to do more. It also seemed kind of slow when downloading apps. If you download apps on your computer to iTunes you need to plug the ipad into the computer to sync... xoom syncs with your Google account flawlessly, and never needs to be plugged into the computer. If you want an app while on the computer, you just say install, then pick the device you want it to go on. And next thing you know, its there. Xoom has two cameras just like I pad for video chat which I'm finding to be really cool.

Other reasons why I went to xoom in lieu of I pad.... duel core processor at 1ghz, not single. Standard 32 gigs. HDMI input' .. you can add an additional memory card. You can personalize with Widgets and live wallpapers. Only thing xoom is lacking right now is the apps. There aren't many.... however, several developers are on board now and the quantity of apps are geared to outnumber I pad by December, drastically.

Other than that, its just awesome doing apps on a much larger screen. I rarely use my laptop anymore. Actually I'm typing this on my xoom now. I don't think you would be disappointed, just don't expect a ton of apps right off the bat. Its awesome for kids also, if you have any. Good luck on your decision...

Honestly you probably should get the galaxy, but the only net positives the xoom has over it are hdmi and sd card slot. Either way you will not be disappointed. The xoom gets beat up alot but most of the gripes are because honeycomb was released too early, and are mostly software related.

I can't justify paying 599$ for a tablet w/o HDMI and an sd card :\

I love my xoom b/c I have a 32gb sd card in it, so I have 64gb total + hdmi slot.. which I Use alot! I hear the 32gb wifi xoom is now 499$ at costco instores? Which is a crazy good deal..

I'm keeping xoom until tegra 3 devices (assuming they are good!) No gripes with xoom atm.

I was thinking about the tab until they left out the micro SD slot. Plus I got a great deal on my wifi xoom, got it for $350, used but only a few weeks old and in mint condition. Liking it very much so far,and using thumb keynBoard which is 100 times better for typing in landscape, the weight bothers me less now. And I rooted and overclocking to 1.5ghz, still gets great battery life, 21 hours yesterday with moderate use. I say look around online for a xoom, you might be able to get a great price for one. And remember the xoom is 32gb so u have to compare it to the more expensive tab. Save some money on a used one as these will be obsolete soon with the quad core chips coming out this fall.
