Did you get the Galaxy Ace update yet?

i got it from samfeirmware.com

That's a bit strange to be honest then... I'd flashed mine back to Stock Froyo and it was accepted by Kies alright... BTW did you take a backup of the firmware before flashing the GB firmware?

If yes then you can use kies to do an emergency recovery!!! Should work absolutely fine to be honest.

I am also on O2 UK, and I haven't got any update yet.
The firmware still shows as below
PDA:KB7 / PHONE: KB1 /CSC:KC2 (XEU)

Hi Rocksoccer, your firmware shows as CSC: (XEU) so I believe your handset is unlocked/sim fee, not locked to 02? Therefore, you should just get the samsung update via Kies?

Maybe somebody else on an unlocked phone can comment or add to this?

Thank you. GrahamF. London (on 02) :)

Thanks for the info.
Yes, my phone is sim free. But Kies does not give me any update yet at least until now.

I am using an unlocked/sim free phone bought from Hong Kong and I'm not getting the update from Kies either.

Hi,

In other forums people has been reporting the release of gingerbread 2.3.4 in different roms. I am from Mexico and decided to flash KPH plus the VIVO Brazil modem. However, there are now at least 2 new roms for the S5830L, one KP7 which is gingerbread for unbranded ace and the KP3 which is for my operator Telcel.

I flashed KP3 to keep my warranty and it works! Nothing extremely new nor exciting. If you are still waiting, believe me, you gain almost nothing by upgrading. Actually the only thing I noticed was that the phone feels a bit snappier than before.

Both these roms came normally from kies. If you can't wait and have an european ace, try KPH and flash it yourself. You can always go back to the old rom (if you have it) later or upgrade to the one from your opererator once it appears.

Otherwise, just wait. Froyo 2.2.2 is not bad at all.

1. Connect your phone to your PC and make sure it is connected to the internet..
2. run kies.. if kies shows a message that an update is available for your phone.. the PDA and CSC numbers should show KP8 most probably if its a gingerbread update..
3. after updating your firmware go to menu>settings>about phone and scroll down to see Build Number... If it says GINGERBREAD.XXKP8 or something like that then you've successfully updated your phone to gingerbread..

I don't know much about it but i think some providers will give OTA updates (your phone will display a message saying the update is available)..

I am from singapore too and using galaxy ace :), you probably need to change the phone csc or bring to the Samung service center for a software update . by the way does your phone vibrate awhile after you turn off the phone?

I don't know what fills the internal memory even after moving apps to SD card. It might be because even if the app is installed in SD, the cache and data are stored in internal memory. Also probably SMS too.
since you have made a titanium backup, do a factory reset and then restore the apps from the titanium backup.
