Galaxy S or Nexus S..??

wich one shud i buy...as both have same cpu n gpu... i think nexus s is better with led flash, gingerbread and gets updates quickly as a google phone,NFC,...but galaxy s got hd video recording, expandable memory, and tv output...!!

Is 16gb sufficient..?? and anyway to get hd video recording nd tv output on nexus s by an update..?? n can i get the galaxy s interface on nexus s by launchers..?? plzz..help!!

I'd say go with the Nexus S. As you said, they do have the same CPU/GPU, and even the same screen, but that's about it.

The camera on the Nexus S is significantly better than the Galaxy S'. It performs much better in low light (even without the flash), and even though the Galaxy S can do "HD" video, I honestly think the Nexus S gives better results even though it's only 720x480.

As far as expandable storage goes, it's a bit of a disappointment that the Nexus S lacks it, but it does make the phone a bit faster. So far, the 16gigs has been more than plenty for me, but I also don't go shoving HD movies on my phone. Using the Google Music cloud service helps too.

The customUI thing is really personal preference. I actually don't like TouchWiz at all, but HTC Sense is pretty nice. I'd still choose vanilla over Sense though just for the timely updates. There are launchers out there that can give you a more TouchWiz like feel (Launcher Pro is a good place to start), but I'm not sure if there are any that can actually deliver all of the TouchWiz experience.

I'm not sure what you mean by TV output. If you're talking about the 3.5mm to RCA cable for the Galaxy S, no the Nexus S doesn't have that. If you're talking about DLNA, you can do that with the Nexus S with apps like Twonky Server.

The Nexus S has 1GB of its 16GB storage reserved for apps. Generally, this is more than enough, but if for some reason it isn't, most apps (especially the larger ones) support Apps to SD, which allows you to transfer them from that 1GB reserved space to the rest of your phones 16GB storage. So technically, yes, you could use that remaining 8GB of yours for apps.

As far as I know, there's no way to mirror the Nexus S' display onto an external display, especially without rooting; however, DLNA apps (like Twonky) allow you to stream media from your Nexus to devices on your network, like a PS3, PC, or DLNA enabled TV.

I've never heard of Gangsta: Hero of Sparta, but the Nexus S should be able to play any Android game just fine. The only exception would be exclusive games, like those just for the Xperia Play or the Tegra Zone games.

ya dats ok...so shud i go for nexus s..??

In my opinion there is no competition. Easily the Nexus S is the winner. Sure they have pretty much the same hardware, but when you compare the two in terms of software the Nexus S is a definite win.

The Nexus S will have Ice Cream Sandwich shortly after it's released, the Galaxy S on the other hand may not even get updated past Gingerbread. Plus it has TouchWiz which will slow the phone down, and potentially cause the device to lag.

Now, if you are talking the Galaxy S II (unlocked GSM) than that's a different conversation all together.

This is what I'm grappling with. I have a SGSII and love it, but just got an I9020A and flashed the KB3 radio. It flies.

Not sure what to do...
Now that's the kind of problem I wouldn't mind having lol.

The Nexus S has among the best battery life of all the Android phones. Depending on the apps you plan on testing, you should be able to get it to last all day with that sort of use. The highest draining activities are generally those that use data, such as streaming music or video. GPS is also pretty taxing, and since you won't be doing either of those, it should last a while.

I saw a Nexus S in a showroom in Dubai and out of interest I checked its current battery status

10 days 4 hours 51 m!!!!! It must of been just sat in stand-by but that's just awesome.

I still have my hero as I can't decide what to get next...The nexus s keeps drawing me in but can't make that final jump.

If you have been waiting this long, I would recommend waiting a little longer. It's Just a matter of waiting 3 months at the most and you will have a Nexus Prime. You can bet it will be top of the line when it's released.

In my opinion it just seems silly to get a Nexus S right now, unless you can't wait it out. Or if you don't want the latest and greatest device, it all depends on what your preference is.

Don't get Nexus s..if you plan to use wifi at all...my nexus s is not catching my router at all and all other shown wifi connections have only 1 signal...it's crap...i would suggest you get SGS and install CM7 or something then your phone is a beast..

I think your unit is defective ...if i think better ,IT IS! I never had problems with wi-fi signal since i have my NS ,and i tested it with stock ROM & with Cyanogen.

It could be the router too. I've been through a few routers lately and 2 had issues with the previous Desire I had. My new Cisco (not a rebranded Linksys) is flawless.

it could be the router too ,but from what i know ,if you configure it properly you won't have any issues.
i use cyanogen ,there could be an issue with the stock android too..

the wifi chip on galaxy s is significantly better than that of nexus s, also the update 2.3.4 only support upto channel 11 so if your router is set on channel 13 then your phone won't connect to it...
nexus s screen is scratchable
Nexus s has only 16 gig of memory in which only 13gb is usable.
Battery life is worse than galaxy s since it uses LCD instead of OLED although you get better quality but not by much when OLED consumes less power compared to LCD...

Putting all these points together i would neither go with galaxy s or nexus s (i bought nexus s already but going to replace today or tomorrow) but instead i'm going with new galaxy s plus which has 1.4 ghz of beast cpu and it consumes 24% less power than galaxy s overall

Nope. My brother has a galaxy s vibrant and it is no faster on wifi than my nexus s. Maybe yours is defective.

nexus s screen is scratchable
I don't know what you do with your phone, but mine goes from my pocket to my hands or to my ear,, or rests on a table or such. I have had it for a month and not a single scratch on the screen yet. Stop playing with it in the sandbox...

Not true. Some cheaper versions of the nexus s use an s-lcd screen yes, but you can get them with the s-amoled (like mine) as well. Battery life is very good for a 4" screen. Better than my old milestones was.

If you wish to save some money and get a fantastic phone, pick up a nexus s. If you want spend some money and get the best phone on the market right now, get the galaxy s 2, unlocked if you can, or wait for the nexus prime.
