Anyone else snag a TouchPad during the fire sale?

Don't know if this belongs here or some sub-forum. Mods can move if they want and I won't be offended.

Did anyone snag an HP TouchPad during the fire sale they were having on them this weekend? For those who missed it, the 16 GB version was $99 and the 32 GB version was $149.

I managed to snag the 32 GB version before it sold out off Best Buy's web site. I can't wait for it to get here. The $500 price tag was just ridiculous, but it's too good to pass up on at $150.

I got the 16gb on Amazon today for 105 shipped. I am really hopping for an android port. The only reason I got one is to hack.

Good deal. I've been checking Amazon as that was the first place I wanted to get one from. They looked like they weren't participating in the fire sale. As I looked closer, it looks like it's only available there from 3rd parties. I'm guessing Amazon itself is sold out and the 3rd parties are all doing their own things.

I got 5 of the 16GB models from Amazon for about $110 each tax and shipping. I really don't think you can go wrong with them. Is it the best tablet out there? No, but for $100 it's really a steal. It still is an extremely capable tablet and the patches and software that webOS Internals put out makes it quite formidable. It's the price of a decent digital picture frame. Plan on giving them out as Christmas gifts.

I ordered a 2nd one from BN that I'll probably sell to my brother for a profit. That is if they don't cancel on me.

I'm hearing the pundits say that HP may have killed pricing in the tablet market with this fire sale. They've established that people are more than happy to pay $100-150 for a tablet. How can Apple, Samsung, etc.... justify charging $500? Of course no one can make money in the tablet market selling tablets at $150.

They have probably inadvertently affected sales this year across the board.

I wonder how permanently though. I also think this is what they should've done in the first place. Put them out there dirt cheap for a week or two. Sell a slew of them. Let people see the promise and how good the device is, then raise the price to the $300-400 range. They'd sell a lot more at that price, attract developers and get their foot in the door. They'd take a bath those first two weeks though, but in the long term they'd have a shot. The only chance to really compete with Apple at this point is to seriously under cut them.
