You can try clearing data storage of every app that is installed.

Goto Setting >> Application >> manage application
choose ALL tab
choose the app
tap "clear data"

this free up some space :)

I am from singapore too and using galaxy ace :), you probably need to change the phone csc or bring to the Samung service center for a software update . by the way does your phone vibrate awhile after you turn off the phone?
HI, i am in india. how to change the phone csc?. the phone vibrates once when you turn it off.
to anyone who can clarify my doubt: at present i do not use my airtel sim in my ACE. so if and when the upgrade to GB is available is it possible to upgrade through KIES or should i use my AIRTEL sim card.and do they provide upgrade or is it irrelevant. i bought the ace sim free in Singapore as i mentioned earlier.
thank you

Received the Gingerbread upgrade through Samsung Kies today (August 30, 2011) at about 8.20 p.m. in Sri Lanka (finaly!). :)

It took more than an hour to finish. But after the upgrade was done and when the phone automatically restarted it was stuck in the lock screen... didn't respond to anything. So I removed the battery and replaced it back and turned it on again. Now everything works fine... :)

Now the phone shows Android version - 2.3.4. There's noticeable improvement in home screen and app drawer navigation speed (bit smoother). Some icons has been changed mainly in notification area and noticed a difference in lock screen font.

All the apps I installed from Android market remains the same... even the contacts list and messages inbox hasn't been changed. All the media files in the SD card are there too. I've been waiting for this update so long so I can root my phone... now I can root it and be in peace... :D

hey guys...i have successfully updated to 2.3,just now[i am from india]
but why aren't the youtube videos playing in my opera mobile browser ????
HI i too upgraded through kies though it took nearly 1 hour to do it .ANDROID 2.3.3. How is it those in sri lanka have 2.3.4 and we have 2.3.3 in india?
one more thing.when the availability of upgrade was shown the message was "latest firmware version:pDA:KPN/PHONE:KP6/CSC:KP8".

BUT after finishing upgrade, THE KIES shows the message "PDA:KPN/PHONE:KP6/CSC:KPN(DBT).
WHAT happened to KP8. IS it the same as KPN?. please can anyone clarify?.
thank you

Hello All,

I am from India, and I received the Gingerbread update (2.3.4) last night via Kies. The music player (playing window) is different and notification icons are different. Operation is somewhat smoother, but have not played with it too much yet. As of now there are no issues (Wi Fi or anything else)

Cheers.

Yes... The stock music player user interface has been changed. Looks better and there's new options. I didn't notice first because I use Winamp player. Thanks...

well. my version is 2.3.3.i will try again tonight. as to the stock music player even in the early version the player force closed. but if i opened music file and then chose the stock player from the options( i have other players like real, MIUI MIXING) it used to play the file.
but now after upgrade to 2.3.3; the stock player opens shows file list, but when i select the file to play it force closes and the other android player , i don't know the name its icon is headphone that too force closes. the other players are o.k.
if i factory reset( i had already done it once before upgrade), and if stays on gingerbread will the stock player work?. not a big issue i can always use the other players but they do not have the EQ. I just wanted to know. thank you

Guys, I've successfully upgraded the firmware thru kies. Though, I was able to achieve only after 3 attempts. Initially, the firmware upgrade stuck at 0 and took several minutes while the phone displays "downloading...". I just disconnected the cable and did the process again from the beginning. While my 4th attempt everything done! Yes, now my firmware version shows 2.3.4. :)

Im from Croatia and Kies still tells me i have the latest firmware:
PDA:KB7 / Phone:KB1 / CSC:KB6 (TWO)

Im wondering is my Kies working OK, because under:

Tools/Firmware upgrade settings/Auto download firmware for:/

I have no devices listed. Is that ok?

You don't need to go thru any options in kies. It'll notify you once you connect your phone. If your phone is not detected, reinstall the kies after completely uninstalling the existing one. Make sure you're installing the recent version of kies. I've already given the link in one of my comments above. If you still didn't get any firmware upgrade notification, then it might not be rolled our in your country.
