Root [ROM] Synergy - [RLS1 + GodMode 08/05/2011] - Now with Warm Sprinkles

Doesn't fix it.

I've even wiped EVERYTHING on the phone and installed again...still does not show previous calls in dialer.

When I pull up the dialer there is no recent call info, if I punch in a few numbers then delete them, the recent calls show up.

PLEASE HELP TO FIX THIS!!!!!!

When you pull up the dialer and hit menu, do you have an option that says "call history" and that has a list of past calls?

Not sure with the Evo, but I have read about other phones that once they reach a maximum call history log, they will quit showing anything. If you don't mind trying, you could always bring up call history like I described above, hit menu, and then delete all. Its "possible" that once the log is cleared you may be able to start seeing a history again.

*I do not know if this will work, so please don't delete your call history if you really need it, this is only a suggestion.

^yes.

Even if I get the calls to show up (by punching in a few numbers and deleting them), going back to the homescreen then to the dialer will be back to being blank again.

what you might want to try is to wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the rom. your data will be saved because you are not wiping it. but it might fix your issue.

I have been using MIUI for the past few months and I wanted to try this build out but when I wipe UserData & Dalvik and flash the rom then reboot, I get stuck at the boot up screen with the "HTC EVO 4G" splash.

Not sure what to do at all since I have used other Roms before... Can somebody help me out?

going from aosp to sense, you really need to wipe really well. go here http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html and read the flashing section. it will really wipe your phone clean and prepare it for a clean install.

Just a little background, I have an Evo 4G (duh) and had used Unrevoked (which apparently also did the forever thing too for me). I had previously used the stock ROM and then I tried this one which I really liked:
[ROM][STOCK] 4.24.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed - xda-developers

The problem is I kept running out of RAM space for apps (despite having moved all I could to the SD card). I decided to try your Synergy ROM -- it was just too sexy to pass up, especially with the a2sd part and Sense 3.0! So I ordered a PNY 16GB class 10 SDHC card and waited patiently for it to arrive...

This Sunday was D-day. After much trial and error, second guessing, backups and rebooting, I finally have it mostly working two days later!

Here are a few observations, warnings and frustrations and suggestions.

  1. Amon RA is MUCH nicer than ClockworkMod -- and is also REQUIRED if you intend to do the a2sd stuff.
  2. All nandroid backups are not created equal -- I couldn't get RA to load my CWM .img files, however, after some digging around after the fact, it seems this MAY be possible with some creative directory renaming. I didn't try.
  3. nandroid backups are essential. Just do it. They're WAY easier to recover from than a TitaniumBackup.
  4. Unfortunately there are incompatabilities between this SenseUI and previous version.
    1. Any "market apps" seemed to work fine, and remember to tell TitaniumBackup to restore to external (it's a preference option).
    2. These TitaniumBackups transferred fine:
      • Calendar
      • Bookmarks
      • Bluetooth Pairings
      • Wi-Fi Access Points
      • Alarms
      • User Dictionary
    3. These TitaniumBackups say they transfer, but do nothing actually:
      • SMS/MMS/APN
      • Voicemail
      • RSS/News (although, I discovered there is an OPML export in the reader itself, but it was too late for me)
    4. This one will corrupt your entire system and make you have to re-install!!
      • Contacts
That last part is extremely disappointing and frustrating because unfortunately, there is no way to transfer all your contacts and groups over. You will have to re-do them. You can go into "People > Menu > Export/Import" and use a .vcf to sorta get there, but it does NOT save the groups, and it also seemed to not transfer ALL the information a contact has. And BTW, I don't trust Google with my personal data, so I do NOT EVER use gmail to store them. What the heck could have changed so much that contacts of all things are not compatible. UGH!

Does anyone know of a better way to transfer my contact/groups over, voicemails and SMS? It seems there should be a better way "upgrade" than wipe everything and re-install...

I think I liked the messenger app in previous Sense better than 3.0. I dislike the little 'blueish bubbles' (for lack of a better description), but I really don't like that when you press the paperclip attachment, you get a big menu, the old version had a nice little slider.

What happened to the GPS indicator? In previous SenseUI, there was a little compass looking icon that would appear if your GPS was enabled, and the satellite dish with green beams if it was actually in use/tracking. The new SenseUI (or is it this ROM in particular?) lacks the former compass??! I don't like that b/c I don't know if the GPS is enabled or not without using the notification bar, then scroll down to the bottom to check the box.

The double round arrow "sync" indicator is a little wonky. It doesn't spin perfectly, it's like it was a little bit off center so it kind of wobbles. I can't believe this passed the muster at HTC -- or is this a hack-on? If it's the latter, could whomever coded that please fix it. It detracts from the whole GUI when you see this wobbly little icon in the notification area.

I'm not very fond of the new "paged" scroller view for ALL apps. Is there a way to turn off that dividing line? I used to be able to flick the screen and shoot from the top to the bottom with relative quickness. Now it pauses after each screen-full.

"Widget" > "Get more HTC Widgets" does not seem to work. It just says "Unable to download widgets. Tap to try again"

What happened to the arrow/cursor keys in the keyboard?!! This sucks. It's too hard to finely touch between letters and stuff and is an exercise in frustration. Please put back the other keyboard.

For you newbs like me, these are the main directories you want to know about:
Code:
ls -l /system/sd
ls -l /system/sd/app
ls /sdcard/
I also suggest you do a complete TI backup of your existing system, and VERIFY you have the CURRENT backups in a safe directory on your computer. I stupidly did a full backup, but forgot to copy them off the SD card like a total putz, so bye-bye when I formatted the SD card in AmonRA. I luckily had a nandroid backup from CWM, but it's a REAL PITA to keep switching recovery.img files, so therefore...

Install AmonRa before installing this ROM, then make your nandroid backup of your existing system, THEN install Synergy and once you get it to a good point, nandroid backup that version too in a new directory of course, THEN do your customizing or porting of TI backups. As mentioned, always delete Dalvik cache and other cache and ALWAYS take the time to copy the backup nandroids and /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/* to your PC.

With the new speech recognition fixes that HTC released, is this ROM going to get them anytime soon? and if so, will I have to format and re-install again, or can I just wipe dalvik/cache and push the ROM on (no wipe of user data)?

Just flashed this and like what I see so far but i might tick with this for a while if it works out. Can someone explain to me what exactly is god mode and how do i use the synergy updater? also what kernel is this running?

It's running the stock kernel. I recommend flashing ChopSuey GodMode kernel.

You can use Synergy updater to flash different themes, lock rings..... to your rom with the updater but if you look at the XDA thread, there are many more themes and such to make your phone yours;) But be aware, some themes....are only compatible with the GodMode Synergy rom so make sure you flash the correct zip. If you're not sure, ask away:) I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction

Tell me about it ive been reading the original thread for hours!!!!!! most of it is arguing, bickering and name calling. You can barely get any useful info.

Yet another reason to be here talking. Much easier to read.

@DAE51D SMS Backup/Restore and the built in import/export option for contacts IMO is the best way to move contacts, SMS to another rom.

Yea, you miss a couple days and then it's like reading a book just to get caught up:p

For the most part, look at the Myn's op. If someone develops a theme or a boot animation, all of these things can be found on the first page of the xda thread.;)

So ive been running this for a couple of days now and its the BEST rom IMO that ive tested so far. Im still learning about roms, kernels, widgets, etc and it fun. Ive had no lag whatsoever and thats huge for me. does anyone know why script manager doesnt work on this rom or the fix for it? Im begining to get into the a2sd and the darktremors thing since it looks like if you want to run the bliss3.5 or anything else new your going to need a fast sd and a partition. I read the changelog and it says a2sd is built in so how do i access it. I also just flashed the darktremors zip so stop me anytime if you think im moving too fast:D

if it has a2sd then all you need to do is partition your card. there is no need to use dt. the only time you should use dt is if it says that it has dt built in or offers support for dt. if it just says a2sd then it is refering to cm a2sd which does not require commands like dt does. you can still use it if you want because you can move dalvik cache to the card if you like. but that is up to you.

I can't post on the XDA thread, my post count to low.

Every week (at least) I would be using my phone and all of the sudden it goes into the Synergy splash screen on an infinite loop. Last time in happened was 2 days ago, I had wireless tether running, nothing else.

I searched online, but all I found was people no able to boot up.

Thanks a for any comments.

^^^

that is just odd... phone is fine.. working ..
then for no reason.. it goes into reboot.. and then stuck on splash screen?
then for no reason... it works again?

maybe .. .you need to try again.
start with a good full wipe.. of everything.
dont use Clockwork...
download a fresh copy of the ROM... and flash it.
