Root [ROM] CM7 with GB kernel by RevNumbers

I don't really see an issue with the camera. I have flashed every 2nd init Rom out and yes, the camera was glitchy but Vignette has always worked without a problem on all of them.

I'm not saying having a fully functional Rom isn't important but if you can get by with a 3rd party app what's the problem?

I think it's the lack of 720p video recording....

You're probably right. But I'm one of those users that doesn't use the camcorder so it's not noticable to me. Or rather it's not a concern. But I can see where it would be a problem for allot of DX owners cause having a camera that can record in 720 but that feature not work can be a deal breaker.

I have been on this since the GB version dropped with a working camera. I was on MIUI prior to that but was having too many issues with the airplane mode bug and then starting having issues with dropped data.

Using this version of CM7 I have not had a problem with this being a working phone in any way. Phone calls, texts, mms, e-mails and bluetooth all work great for me. Also I have had no data issues at all and all apps that I have tried to use work just fine as well. Battery life has been real good, the best it has been since I was on stock GB. I would say battery life (for me) is as good as running Apex on Froyo, still not as good as stock GB, but more than enough to get me through a normal day. Camera is fine and camcorder is good, just not great, but it is better than any phone I used prior to the X.

1% battery reads are not working, but that is not a big deal to me personally.

I agree with Steven as this is a great ROM for someone new to use. Mainly because of the stability and it is being actively supported on a daily basis. RevNumbers has done great work on putting this together.

One last note that people have said is a bug, but I think it is part of the new kernel, the green led stays on while the phone is charging. I personally like it because I can see when my phone is charging, or when it is fully charged. We don't have an led by the connection to show it is charging.

I recently went from CM7 to Apex so that I can use the 720p video, my wife and I are going to the Pearl Jam concert next Wednesday in Canada. The US/Canadian border is only about 30 minutes away from where we live in NY.

If you want widescreen shots use the MIUI Test 1 camera, it works perfectly. Just go into its settings and turn off Auto Focus, and choose "Infinity" for "Focus Mode".

If you want it, here it is:
Miui_camera.zip

Install it through CWR or extract it from the zip an install it manually through something like root explorer.

Hey Bo, does it also do panoramic shots?

Ok, so this is truly running on GB...not like all the other 2 int rom's that were basically on Froyo? I loved Miui, but battery life was really, really bad when I needed my phone. So, I am back on .596 and DarkSlide right now. My #1 question is how is the battery life compared the Froyo build 2 int roms and stock GB?

I will need to do an sbf back to Froyo if I want to try this and then go up to .602...correct?

If we can get the functionality of a 2 int rom with the battery life of GB, that would be great.

I'm going to recommend this ROM even for newbs. The only things, newbs, is if you have any questions or difficulties? ASK! There's an sbf and one click root available for the new .602 GB update, so it's going to be pretty difficult to totally mess up, nigh to impossible.

Personally, I hadn't flashed anything since June. Since June I was on Stock Gingerbread rooted, so I was getting bored. This is giving me new enjoyment. I love the little tweaks you can do with the rom.

Steven

can I flash this through ROM Manager? whats the best way to get this up and running?

This Rom is sweet with great battery life and all the customizations of CM7. Does anyone know how to kill the green charging led either through build prop or a menu setting? I went all through the build.prop nit seeing anything that says anything about led. Just ordered the dock from Amazon for $12 and am going to use my phone as a sleep clock. TIA

No. Rom Manager has been giving headaches on the latest GB build (.609)

Here's how I'd do it.

1) Start with a .602 build, either from over the air (OTA) or from SBF. Then use the one step rooter.

Why I say .602 is because it has an updated radio file (13p, it's called)

2) Download the Cyanogen for GM file to your sd card (it's linked to in the first post).

3) Go into Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap and wipe system, data and cache.

4) Then flash the zipfile as you would any file. If you don't know how, ask.

You'll be in Cyanogen!

BTW guys. I've sbf'd all the way back to .340 in order to take the OTA (perhaps verizon keeps track of that? ;))

I'm going to root that and go back to my Gblur setup? Am I dissatisfied with my CM7GB? No! I just want to go back for comparison purposes to make sure I'm happy with CM7. :) I'll prolly come back.

Youth is in a hurry. I'm getting there. Trust me. Having the freedom to flash new roms without going all the way back to .340, having a one click root and a .602 sbf has been downright intoxicating. I'm able to delete my old pre-rooted and AIO files. :D

It's new life for the DX. :)
