Is there another way to take pics on the TBolt without hitting the button.(I'm not rooted... yet...). The Droid Inc let you take a pic (if you wanted to) but pressing the focus button for a few seconds
I'll be honest. I take lots of pics of myself and its really hard to do that because I always end up touching the camera and either closing it or hitting a random button.
(I'm not a self obsessed weirdo. I edit my own beauty site geared towards makeup and I like to use my TBolt cam for my (FOTD Face of the Day) to post to my site and its FB Fan page.

The camera is great and shows all the detail I need when taking self portraits.
The front facing cam isn't an option. No flash and it's like 0.1 megapixels.

I'm sure the button on the front of the screen is going to be the only way to snap a pic. You might check the available apps to see if it's possible to set up another button to snap a picture. I'd say most apps are going to make you tap the front of the screen as well. I've actually become a little proficient with that button. The key is to click it and hold for a good 5 second count after clicking the button, and of course having the sound on so you hear the fake shutter sound.

Other than the timer in the Camera app, there's no other way really, to click the shutter. The only other option would be a remote app that lets you capture screenshots. But that would really be a long way around a short problem (you'd have to log into your remote monitoring app (security apps do this most of the time), and then click take snapshot, or whatever, wait for it to send the signal to the phone to take the picture, etc...

I just set the camera so it can view where I'm sitting, start a 10 second timer, and use it that way.

Time to root.

The CM camera has options to take a picture with the power/volume buttons. You can try to get another camera .apk of you may be able to find mods for the HTC camera.

I don't know why I'm so hesitant to root. I rooted my Incredible but it took a few months too have the confidence to do it.
