 those are high also - not fair:rolleyes: ~ but enjoy it. I'm in Cntrl Florida and its capped - but can't complain, happy at least we're getting 3G

the highest ones are from the parking lot at my job, i can see a tower nearby but i have no idea if metro is using it, it might be cause that's the only explanation i have as to why i get such high speeds in that part of town.

ive noticed a trend here, those who have had the "automatic" update done (or "magically" appeared updated in the middle of the night haha) have had the 3G service with EVERYTHING working (texts, calls, data.... awesomeness, etc haha) but for those who have done the update manually are having problems, like me... haha, i got the 3g, but no texts or phone calls (sending or receiving for both) are working, just the internet... blaahh haha

ha!! neeeevermind... haha i reupdated my PRL manually (use to have 3020), BUT i used the 3022 PRL, works like a charm!!!. Used twistedriku's tutorial and just replaced the 3020 PRL like he was mentioning with LockLady's new 3022 PRL which you can find here :D EVERYTHINGS WORKING!! Text (send and receive), MMS (send and receive), phone calls (send and receive), Data (online shtuff...haha) all is working like a charm :) Im in San Jose, CA btw...if anyone was wondering

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I'm using prl 3022, added via cdma workshop. I have 3g and I can use data, mms, and call. <a href=http://s1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc495/xxmartymcflyxx/?action=view&current=screenshot-1316810967709.png target=_blank><img src=http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc495/xxmartymcflyxx/screenshot-1316810967709.png border=0 alt=></a>

I'm a noob but willing to read and learn. I was able to root my phone using gingerbreak (this made it extremely easy for a noob like myself). I did this mainly to remove bloatware (I haven't attempted new ROM's yet)and would like to try manually updating my prl too.

So my options to manually update prl are:

LGNPST (thanks: twistedriku)

or

QPST (thanks: santia213)

I read the whole post and thought I'd give the links in case someone doesn't have the patience to read it thru.

So proceeding with caution, my question is which of these methods is more idiot proof or has a better success rate?

Anyway thanks for the forum, learning a lot with my first smartphone. My next issue to tackle is how to get more internal memory.

Wow what a small world. I am just on the other side of the river from you on heckscher drive.. just over the dames point bridge from merrill road.
I wonder how did you get that speed test result on your phone? is it an app or did you just google for it and use the regular site to take this pic of your screen? I would like to do a speed test from this side of the river and compare with your results.
thanks in advance,
perryinjax

Ok I got great news, here at my house in jax, near merril rd. I have 3g symbol and even better then that I get 700kb/s download speed.

if you read throughout this thread and find the related threads to this, there's a way to get the 3020 prl on your phone if *228 doesn't do it. Beyond that, even if you get it, results have been pretty spotty as you can see by reading the thread. it was a few weeks after I loaded 3020 that i started seeing regular 3g--and even now, i have it most of the time in Arlington, TX, but when I head an hour north to my hometown, I'm back on 1x. the 3G is an improvement, but its pretty capped where I'm at. the d/l speed is better while the upload speed is a little worse lol.

Flashed the PRL 3020 in mine last night after reading through this thread. The process was as simple as teh_dude's picture (the one with lgnpst flash PRL screen).

Just took a few minutes.

No 3G for me. I live near San Diego, which is not one of Metro PCS's markets, but otherwise I get great Metro service here (moved here from Florida and didn't want to switch carriers).

I will say this, however: for whatever reason, my signal seems to be stronger than before. Like, I seem to get more bars when I'm at work and stuff (when I usually get 0-1 bar).

Anyway, like I said, we're not really supposed to get full Metro service in San Diego at all, just an extended coverage zone, so I suppose I should consider myself fortunate.

3G related question, though: On the Boost coverage map, they advertise that they can use the Sprint 3G network. Does anyone know how true this is? Because as much as I like my Optimus M, I kinda have my eye on the Galaxy Prevail they are advertising. Crappy video streaming and tether speeds are the only thing killing my Optimus M enjoyment.

**Update**

Updated my PRL from 3020 to 3024 (also found in these forums) and still no love in the 619. Sigh...

Maybe some of you guys can use this:

Here's a link to a YouTube video where someone uses an app to get EvDo:

How to get 3G or 2.5 EVDO for Lg Optimus M metropcs from any in service location - YouTube

In short, you download a free app from Market called LTE OnOFF and install it.

Then open the app and change the setting from 'CDMA auto (PRL)' to 'EvDo only'.

Worked like a champ in the video, however, did not work for me here in San Diego. He did not mention anything about updating the PRL, either, so this may get you around that issue (for those who don't want to meddle with LGNPST or QPST tools).

Might work for some of you in better locations. Best of luck!
