scratches around the charge port!!

Just noticed deep scratches around my Epic Touch's charge port! The scratches ar deep enough to see the silver primer underneath the black coating on the plastic. My old HTC Evo had the same problem and quality issue of paint scratching off by the charge port. Anyone else notice paint or plastic scratching or rubbing off??

I have not noticed this but I am careful when plugging in the "metal" usb adaptor. Metal VS paint, metal always wins. My guess is your scratching this surface while attaching the charging cable. Is that the fault of the design?

I completely blame Samsung for a bad and overlooked design flaw. My wife's Epic 4g has a steel sleeve around the charge port to protect the plastic from getting damaged. Why did Samsung leave this off the GS 2??? How much cost would have been involved by adding it? I am very anal about my cars and smart phones and it is really annoying to see the scratches on a brand new phone!

Then I'd be careful about how I inserted the micro USB charger and not let anyone stand below you looking up at the bottom of the phone while your talking on it:)

If your very Anal about it, then be sure to put it directly in the Hole!

If you had keys in your hand while grabbing the handle of your car door, & scratched your paint would this be the manufacturers fault? Human Error... Would you like them to show you exactly how & where to insert it also, or maybe they could just put it in for ya?

Seriously just be careful paint vs metal your losing guaranteed! No scratches here very careful, slow & easy on insertion! Slow & Steady always wins the race!

Was this thread serious enough to be created? Do you miss put your charger in causing friction and scratches? You must because mines is as clean as it was when I got it. And i work at Home Depot. Clearly something you do or keep it around is causing this. You can't blame Samsung. Your complaint is honestly silly.

Listen, this is a free forum site and I can post my complaints and concerns about the phone! I am very careful when inserting the charger but if metal wins over plastic w hy the hell would a company NOT protect the area? The Epic 4g has a metal sleeve that Samsung added to protect the plastic why not add it on the Epic Touch? All I am saying is that Samsung cheaped out by deleting something so small to earn more profit.

Here's a fix for your problem. It's not chip resistant until after 7 days so be careful during that period.

Krylon: Products: Camouflage Paint with Fusion Technology

Thanks for the suggestion. I had black touch up paint for my suv so I dabbed some on and also put on some clear coat. Hopefully, it will hide the scratches on the phone and minimize any additional ones that might appear.

I want to clarify where I am getting scratches on my phone. It is on the inside bottom of the charge port.
The charge cables have sharp little prongs that are causing the scratches.

Oh I see now. In that case you might try a little K-Y jelly to reduce the friction as the little prongs are being inserted.
