Root [ROM] Team Nocturnals Xplod E4G RLS1.2 (10-27-2011)

1. doesn't work. The voice to text button still is non responsive.

2. ok

3. It says scaling - smartass, set on boot is enabled and i clicked enable on profiles but I didn't see any listed. Made 1 under smartass for 729max 128 min..is this about right?

I don't think you're supposed to have it Set on Boot, uncheck that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Uncheck "Set on Boot" until you can ensure your phone will work correctly with the configuration you have. Also, you might wanna up that screen profile to a 245min, sometimes being set as low as 128 you'll experience issues when trying to turn the screen back on, or answering calls/texts while the screen is off. I "think" the smartass governor already underclocks when the screen is off, but i may be wrong as I haven't looked into governor configurations in quite a while. I always create my own with 245/245 max/min.

Do you all think the voice to text has something to do with google voice not installed? Whenever I try to install it, it says "bad packet".

So far that is my only issue with the newest version of the ROM. I really like this a lot better than Sense. It is much more logical. Example..the phone dialer on Sense made you have to scroll out of contacts just to open the numerical pad. It was lame. This one is a lot cleaner.

EDIT : deleted and reinstalled Google voice and all is well.

yes you can backup your apps and not have to download them again. use titanium backup and titanium backup pro. you can then backup and restore your apps including your apps data as well. it is an essential tool of root users.

I back everything up before updating to the most recent version of Xplod, but when I restore from Titanium, my phone just restarts. Also, I can't get the app menu to stay in alpha sorting. It reverts to "special" or whatever it is every single time I close out of it.

Are there any bare-bones AOSP ROMs that have GPS functionality? I'm not finding a solution.

Have you gone into Terminal Emulator and typed
su - enter
a2sd remove - enter?

This usually corrects the app reboot thing. It was an issue with the Rom for some reason but it works fine after that. Also the GPS works.

I haven't, but I'll try it as soon as I can. Thanks for the tip. Wonder what I'm doing wrong with the GPS. I waited a good 60 seconds for it to grab a signal with the Navigation app, but didn't get anything.

I'd love to get Xplod dialed in. It's a gorgeous and well-functioning ROM.

Hey guys keep us posted on how this new version is. I just flashed, and while I am getting pretty good at it, I will wait and see how much better it is than the last one.

I was about to delete this ROM at first because it was so different, but it is FAR better than Sense to me. Sense is just a waste of CPU and graphics.

I don't like the Sony Ex bloatware but the rom is running smooth

Does this update fix the lock screen not coming on issue? I won't be able to flash until late tonight or tomorrow.

Users on other AOSP Rom's report the same thing.
It may be to low of a screen off profile if you are using Setcpu.

i.have.droid,
I don't recall if it's on this Rom but on many if you go into sounds there may be a setting for Notification sounds to be the same as ring volume. If you turn that off you will have the ability to set Notification volume independently. You would tunr off all Notifications though. ie: Messaging, Talk, and E-mail.

I do have 1 question though.

Under settings, profiles there is a way it seems that we could possible have Gmail and Email setup to show us a visual notification of an email without a sound coming through the phone. I am trying to pull this off, but have not figured it out so far. Has anyone?

In Gmail, if you go into the Gmail app itself, then hit Menu button>More>Settings>Select your desired Gmail account (if you have more than 1)>Labels to Notify>Inbox, you can then select the ringtone you want, or select "Silent" for the ringtone. It works this way on Sense ROMs, but since it's in the settings in the Gmail app itself, i don't see why it would be different on an AOSP ROM.

I'm not sure about the Email app. I deleted it when my workplace upgraded to Exchange 2010 and pulled our means of syncing to cell phones without using MobileIron :( I'm sure you can silence the notifications in the Android native Email application though 'cause i always had them silenced when i used it.

Yeah, I need text notifications. Oh well, I just turned them off and check my email when I can. So far everything else is going good.

So far this is the best rom I've ran on my phone for battery life. It's the only rom that I've had that when the phone is in standby it isn't using any battery like a phone should. I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Yeah me too, but I am still trying to get used to using this type of rom. But the battery life is awesome. Been unplugged for 12 hours and still have 50% battery left with moderate use.:D
