Someone needs to make a high end 4" phone

One of the major advantages to Android is that manufacturers can make any size phone they want. Where are all the high end 4" phones and I don't mean pentile matrix phones like the Atrix. I really like using one hand to operate my phone and there is no way I will be able to on a Galaxy Nexus.

How about someone making the android version of this iPhone 5 fake concept

I have a Droid Incredible 2, which has a 4 inch screen and it seems pretty high-end to me (depends on your definition of "high-end", I guess).

In terms of stuff coming out in the future, it looks like phone manufacturers are determined to go 4.3 or higher.

I think 4" is the perfect combination of screen size, hand feel, and pocket portablity. However, I like the bigger screens too because I spend a lot of time browsing the internet on my smartphones.

YES to what the OP said!! I want a new, top-of-the-line phone that's sized for one-handed use and fits in a pocket with room to spare ... and there honestly doesn't seem to be such a thing in the Android ecosystem right now. It's true that phones are getting thinner, but in other ways they're just getting more and more ungainly.

Bigger is not always better.

With ICS, a 4inch screen wont feel like a 4inch screen anymore. A swath of the screen at the bottom will be reserved for controls which used to be part of the hardware key set, so the actual screen for some apps will be smaller, more like it will become 4inch screen seem like a 3.7inch screen.
Another reason getting rid of the buttons is silly and pointless.

Actually, it's the opposite. A 4" will fit in about the same space as a 3.7" or a 4.5" in the space of a 4.3". Because with ICS eliminating physical or capacitive buttons, the screen can physically extend into the space previously used by those buttons. With ICS the buttons only take screen space part of the time. Neat trick to maximize smaller screens.

I thnk I will stick with my 5" screen till it falls apart in my hands... i cant do anything smaller...

I wasnt talking about the size of the phone. I am talking about the screen itself. Think of it, the spec sheet would say it would have a 4inch screen (in a 3.7incher's body), but in truth the screen estate you can actually use is just similar to a 3.7incher because the extra space you supposedly would have gotten is used up by the touch buttons.

Chanchan has a good point.

I realize what you meant. But the buttons are not always on-screen. Some - much - of the time the full screen is available, no buttons at all. So a 4" can be used on a unit the same size as a 3.7" before. That's the advantage of eliminating capacitive or physical buttons. More usable screen for a given size device. And the smaller the device the more important that becomes

He might be referring to some devices that has a 4" screen but utilize some of the "screen estate" reserved for virtual buttons. Then there are true 4" screens where the entire screen is just that... Both you and chanchan are correct.

Does nobody read these posts? There are several 4 inch Android phones out already. The Nexus S, a few of the Droids, a few LG phones, the Fascinate. Go buy one and stop crying already.
Yeah, there are still some good smaller units available. But the point of the OP was...those aren't new releases and they're no longer cutting-edge. How much longer will they be sold anyway? And none of the new state-of-the-art units like the new Nexus, Moto Razr etc. or any planned high-end units (I'm aware of) are less than 4.3" screens. Likely I'll have to settle for a mid-range phone next time to get a size I can deal with. And that's a shame.

I dont think you understand. Take a look at these screen shots:

If the phone using ICS has a 4inch screen, you wont be using a 4inch screen really, Its the same as using a 3.7inch screen with a row of capacitive buttons at the bottom because there is a space reserved at the bottom of the screen for the controls. This means that in terms of screen estate used for the UI, 4inch screen with ICS = 3.7inch screen with Gingerbread and dedicated buttons.
