Yet one more reason why I won't buy another Samsung.

No more Samsung, no more Sprint. They're just as much to blame for not pressuring and they sure aren't eager to keep customers satisfied and updated. My contract is almost up, Sprint will end all their unlimited plans soon, so I will try to get into Verizon early enough to get a decent contract before the mass exodus. HTC here I come.

Knowing there is a lot of development needed per device ( which is another matter and downside for Android ) and the disappointment that comes from the broken promise from this OS beginning that was "free updates". I think Samsung could make a nice little business for themselves if they developed a Paid for model for major OS upgrades. Motivate them to keep development teams on devices that are flagship products. The less often you upgrade a set, the more profit Sprint makes, I think they have skin in this game. This is a way to prop up profits for them to push Sami to consider this model. I do not have to upgrade my handset every 6 months . I would love to get 2 - 3 years from a device. I might be willing to pay something for a GB or ICS upgrade. Thoughts ?

I got no beef w sprint at all.... Verizon is way expensive for the same data and calls.

That's today. Does anyone know around when this update should take place?

Poking around more in that forum, they're talking about an 8-10 day rollout, with a very small percentage (I think it was 11%) getting the update in the first 5 days. Sounds like they want to avoid the OTA update problems they had with the Froyo release by rolling out to a very small group, waiting to see if any problems arise, then rolling out wider. Probably a smart plan on their part, even though I really want to be in that 11% :)
