I love trying out all these roms that the awesome devs put out. But I really want to start messing with some themes. Both for a rom as well as for go launcher, which will likely be my preferred launcher. So I need help picking a good stable rom to work with. One that is a great daily driver, and that will work nicely with go launcher.

I am currently running evodeck 1.3, with a nice blue theme. It looks great and works great when i am at home. But at work where my signal is a bit worse, the battery dies so quickly while using the rom. So I am not sure if it will cut it for what I want.

I would ultimately like to get some good battery life, 12-18 hours with moderate usage. I was thinking maybe MikG, as I have had decent results with it. But Mik3D is also an option.

I was also thinking maybe a more stock rom would be a good option, like the team nocturnal stock, or swagged out stock. Maybe tommytomatoes classic rom. Or what about AOSP? Gah, so hard to decide. Please help, lol

I would recommend MikG or Fresh ROM....Synergy ROM is also a great ROM to check out as well.

I really like MikG and tommytomatoe's.

There are more themes available for mikG than tommy's at this point in time though.

Synergy is great as well, but i dont think its been updated in a long time

EDIT

Scratch that virus is working on the EVO 4G again! I can't wait for that update

I'm running Mik 2.59, Chop Suey, Slightly under-clocked (950-128), Juice Defender and V6 Supercharger.

I had some issues with some other stuff, but this setup appears to be getting 10-12 hours battery life right now.:D

Alot of that is standby, but I also listen to music, check emails, play a game here and there...pretty light use overall.

Paid juice defender, or free? I downloaded the free version last night, it didn't seem to have much improvement on my battery life. But I am thinking the paid version may be worth it for me, so I can shut down 3G while at work and just have it turn every once in a while to grab my emails and such.

Free, balanced profile. Works for my setup!

If you're wanting to do some themes, I would recommend staying away from MikG since it's odexed;)

I would consider flashing Myn's Synergy or tommytomatoe's roms if you're going to heavily theme your rom.

Just my $.02

Why would you want to cure this?

Unless of course your wife begins to get on your case because you're on your phone 24-7, and start loading custom software on everything from microwaves to remote controls. Then you might want to ease up a bit.......she just doesn't understand, it all works better now.....

That's when you buy her an Android ;).

I got an extended battery and it works really well.

It does make the phone bigger, but I got big ass hands and it doesn't bother me a bit.

Been running the first version of Tommy and I really like it as well.

Prob need to try something new pretty soon though... :)

Did the same in January, got the extended battery. lasted good for about 4-5 months then it started to hold its charge less and less, until i was charging my phone almost the same as with the regular battery. when i took it out and put the original back in i couldn't believe how much i missed having the evo the way it came without that HUGE battery.

About a month ago i figure i'd give it another go with the extended battery to see if there was a difference i would notice, had it in for about 10 mins and said F*** this, and put the original back...

I would of thought breaking my phone would have caused me to slow down but no such luck.

And now since my wife is choosing what kind of rom she wants.........there's no end in sight

Only had mine since july, it still works great. I honestly don't even notice it being HUGE. Guess that is since I got big ass hands, the regular phone is DINKY. :p

The urge to flash new stuff never really goes away for me. It's definitely slowed significantly for me, but every now and then I'll have a flashing binge. I remember my worst period of flashing was when AOSP Gingerbread, Sense Froyo rocking with full development and a slew of gingerbread sense ports were released. I was flashing like 2 or 3 roms per day.

As an up and coming themer, I prefer mikg. I have looked at others but none seem as complete and editable as mik's work. It has virtually stopped my flashing though i am always "pushing" test files to my phone.
:p:D

for me, it's been the same since i've first rooted... i tried numerous roms until i found one that ran flawless for me... my first was
[ROM][ACS] Koni's ELITE Series III - (ES3 - 03/24/11) - The evolution of ELITE!!!
i could not go wrong with this rom... i would try newer ones as they came out but always returned to koni's... now, with all the updates and such over the past 9 months, i have found that
[ROM] The EVO Classic v0.0.3 - Sense 1.0 Redefined - Circle of Life
has become my flawless rom to date... i've tried just about all of 'em, each good in their own right, but none that run for me like the EVO classic... might be kind of boring for some but i don't need all the bells and whistles to make me smile... :)

To be honest, I liked the older ROMs better. They're more stable. They feel faster. There was more to look forward to in the updates (such as Myn's ROMs). I find them way less boring then today's ROMs. At first, I didn't want to flash the EVO Classic ROM, but now I am. :)
