Native FLAC Support and Multitouch Notifications?

Hi All,

I have two quick questions about the Galaxy Nexus/Ice Cream Sandwich for which I'm hoping somebody might be able to offer an answer (or at least some speculation).

First: A large portion of my music collection is stored in the form of .FLAC files. I would prefer not to have to transcode these files for playback (it's a hassle and it takes up extra space on my hard drive). Looking at the Android Developers website (h t t p://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html), I see that FLAC support is listed for "
(Android 3.1+)." Does this mean that Android 4.0 will, indeed, have native FLAC support? This would be absolutely amazing!

Second: I am currently running PEv4.2 on my OG Droid and have become very attached to the Galaxy S-style power notification widget/toggles offered in this ROM (and all CM-based ROMs). While I understand that this feature is not built in to Ice Cream Sandwich (there's only a link to settings - not quite as useful in my book), does anyone know if there is multitouch support in the notifications? All of the videos I've watched have shown only the "swipe to remove" gesture to eliminate individual notifications. Basically, I want to know if I'll be able to use an application like Widgetsoid to put these power control toggles in the notification dropdown on a single row and also be able to select multiple toggles without opening a new, expanded window (that's how it is handled if I try to use Widgetsoid on my OG since it does NOT have support for multiple toggles in one notification).

I apologize if these questions are elementary; I don't have any computer science knowledge, so I could only glean so much from the Android Developers website.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Quick search I found this "Native support for FLAC was added to the Android operating system starting from the 3.1" so I'm pretty sure it will be in ICS.

Not to sure what you mean by mutlitouch notifications... but if you wait till this gets CM9 you'll get those widgets in the pull down menu.
th0r615: Thanks for your reply.

With regard to FLAC support, most of the articles I read online that mentioned that FLAC support was added to the Android operating system starting with version 3.1 were written long before Android 4.0 was revealed to the general public/tech blogs, so I'm not sure if it's safe to say that the support gained in Honeycomb was carried over to ICS (I really hope it was)! Clearly, the chart on the Android Developers website seems to suggest that support should be included in 4.0 (4.0 > 3.1); I just wanted to know if someone could confirm this for me. I tried to download the SDK and run the emulator to check if a FLAC file would play, but getting a FLAC file on a virtual SD Card turned out to be more troublesome than it should have been, and I didn't have time to play around with it very much.

As for the multitouch notifications: At this point, I'm actually planning on NOT rooting my next phone (Galaxy Nexus). I'd love to have multitouch notification support built in (I believe it is natively included in Honeycomb, though I've never played around with a tablet myself to know firsthand). I'm inclined to believe that it IS included in ICS; I'm guessing the swiping gesture, which must detect the horizontal location of a person's finger on one notification, is indicative of the fact that ICS can handle different actions based on the horizontal position pressed on one notification.

I heard they added the, swipe away the notification, feature that is in CM7.
Yes, I already mentioned that above. That is a well-known fact; it was demonstrated during Google's initial reveal and in several subsequent video leaks. That is not the functionality in question. Rather, I want to know if, for instance, one would be able to tap on the left of one notification to choose "action A" (i.e. toggle Wifi) OR tap on the right side of that same notification to choose "action B" (i.e. toggle Bluetooth).
