Okay...I've been extremely busy today and have not been able to check in. Seeing a bunch of new folks (welcome) and lots of attention being paid to Monday. I'm cashing in my "what did I miss card". I've dug through several pages, but failed to find the "money post". Anyone feel like giving a recap?
Grazzi.
Been lurking for a while following this thread, what a roller coaster it has been. Now to get two pieces of good news for Monday, first I'll pick up my Gnex, then the iPad2 I just won from a local pizzeria. All in all, it should be a great day!
OK...if Steven is out, I feel safe to step out. I have 100 texts to answer...text me if something happens!
Looks good for in store Monday. Quite a few sources and stores have said it
If you buy it in the store don't let them touch it, or you'll get the typical Verizon sales guy deal...
"Oh yea bro let me just install this task killer app real quick, and you'll DEFINITELY need all the Verizon apps, etc........"
I'm going into a store to hold it and play with it before I buy, and debating whether to order online or just buy it in the store after that. I liked ordering it with the Incredible because I got to be the first one unboxing it and setting it up. If I buy in store I may tell them to just give me the box and I'll handle it. Most of those guys are morons in the stores, can't trust them.
Solid sources, I assume?
Whew, I got home at 8:30 from Verizon and Olive Garden and it takes me a good 45 minutes to catch up
Good to see all the Toledoans here! Small world, eh?
So I stopped by the Verizon store like I said I would (yes, the one next to the Chipotle ), but neither the manager nor any of the reps had any idea about a Gnex release. They hadn't gotten a demo unit yet, and one of the reps said that all they'd gotten was the online training. But they also said that since they usually only find out a day or two in advance (even with their other phones), I'll probably find out before they do
I also looked at the Rezound and the Razr, and my experience was pretty similar to everyone else's. The RAZR was ok, I suppose, but I could really see the pentile effect (maybe it was a placebo), and it did seem to stutter when I scrolled through the apps list fast enough. The Rezound was actually very nice, the screen was brilliant, and it was buttery smooth, for the most part. My only issue was that it runs Gingerbread, and everytime I went to a page, I thought "oh, this is going to be better in ICS". Plus some aspects of Sense reminded me too much of the WinMo version of Sense, which brought back some repressed bad memories *shudder*. So I kind of soured on the Rezound too.
So, I guess I'm stuck with you loons for a while yet (just kidding of course, I'm the real loon)
P.S. I was eavesdropping on a rep talking to another customer. The customer asked about the Nexus and why he would buy it over the iPhone. The rep told him that the iPhone was better because Apple would care about software updates because they own both the hardware and the software, while Samsung won't care about the Nexus, since it's not their software, so Nexus wouldn't get frequent updates!
Does he even know what a Nexus device is?!
Please tell me I detected sarcasm there???
I'm going to refuse to let them even activate it for me, I successfully deactivated my Thunderbolt and reactivated my sister's OG Droid completely online and I don't want them getting any finger prints on my baby

Yeah, call me sentimental or neurotic or whatever, but I feel like there's a certain amount of fun / pride in being the first one to open everything up on the phone, first one to power it on, to activate it, etc....
It's like the start of a new relationship, you gotta get to know each other. Feel each other out. That relationship is tarnished if some asshat gets all up in her grill before you.
On another note I've seen some arguing in the comments section of some reviews about the Google Voice Recognition vs. Siri on the iPhone. I don't know enough about it to really know who's right or even have an opinion, but some people are getting all butt hurt over it. Haha I saw one review where an iPhone vs Galaxy Nexus bitching match got going and one guy said the original poster probably had Apple logos on his bed sheets. That gave me a giggle.

LMAO
That story + that picture + that punchline = made my day!
Hey everyone another Lurker coming out into the open, been following this thread for awhile and have been eagerly anticipating this phone since It was announced (still on a dieing OG droid). I don't think I have ever been this excited for a phone!
What are everyone's thoughts about 3rd party retailers getting the phone next week if it actually is released? I always buy my phones from Best Buy (best friend works in the mobile department and always holds any phone I want on release day and hooks me up) plus financing the 300 is always nice. Unfortunately if next week is the release date and its only corporate stores I may just splurge at the VZW store rather than wait, I have to charge my OG droid 2-3 times a day with minimal usage!
We can all meet up and bump together once we get our phones
I can't stop.checking this thread! Someone help me ahhh! Im behind in all classes, moving, puppies, freelance work and I can't pry myself away for more than 15 minutes.
Please Verizon, for the sake of my finalllllllly graduating and my puppies, release the phone
