The dad in question happens to have a birthday on December 12.

Doesn't tell us much, I know, but maybe it hints towards December 8,which is seemingly more and more likely.

I honestly think the anger over the name is way overblown, its supposed to resemble the word cyborg when you say it. It's to go along with the whole droid theme and keep the X from the xooom, its pronounced like cyboard which I don't have a big issue with at all. Think of how you pronounce the word xylophone, just with -board instead of -lophone.
