That's an older promotion. I heard about that one too, but I gave him the code CH4GE and he found the updated one and added the note to my account.

Has anyone outside the Midwest gotten this to work? I'm in pa and already got them to let me upgrade early, not sure I want to push it by trying for the $100 off if I'm not eligible...

Does anybody know for sure if the $100 promo code applies to those in the Northeast? I just spent 45 mins talking to a customer service rep and she said that the offer is only valid to those in the Midwest. I gave her CH4NGE and CH4NGE2, she was very helpful and double checked on both of them, but said neither one would be valid for me due to my location. Anyone get anywhere on this?

My work group went out to breakfast this morning and the restaurant was next to a Radio Shack. I figured it wouldn't hurt to stop in and ask.

I asked if he knew anything about the Galaxy Nexus. His immediate, almost too quick response was, "I know I can't sell you one." We talked a bit and he said he had them (notice the plural) in the back but had no idea when he could sell them. He also said he gets calls daily about the phone.

That surprised me because this is a somewhat remote RS and there is a BJ's in the same plaza with a corporate store less than a mile away. I never seriously considered going to Radio Shack. If the lesser of three stores has "them" and is getting a lot of calls, then I imagine the demand for these is more than just geeks. It really will be the Nexus breakout phone.

Finally, my visit degraded into a spec war between the sales guy and myself, each throwing out a different spec.
"4.65" screen!"
"Dual-core!"
"1.2ghz clock speed"
"ICS"
"1850mA battery"

etc.

In the end I out geeked him, blew the smoke from my guns and strutted out of the store, knowing I had defeated a man who was probably just waiting to complete college in order to get a better job. I made an enemy for life.

Still, I have no regrets.

So yesterday I walked in at a Verizon store that's a bit farther from my work and not the one where the rep got fired. They didn't have a demo that I could see, but the rep was very friendly and seemed to know what he was talking about and gave me his card with his cell on it.

I texted him last night:

So I heard good news, the 15th, finally!! Will you have stock on Thursday?
(Yes, I was baiting him a bit.)

He got back to me a few minutes ago:

I said:

I figured you would. I've asked for the day off so I can specifically be there at opening time. But can you earmark one for me just in case?
He said:

Thats koo
Eh, who knows.

Longtime lurker coming out to say Hello, and relay that I just called a few minutes ago and got the CH4GE $100 promotion ... took me 2 calls (Thanks to whoever found that)

What do you mean by "got" it? I called to see if I was eligible but they said it would all have to go through at checkout. Did you get a coupon mailed or anything like that so as to ensure you get the deal on that fateful day?

Thanks for any info guys/gals! :D

edit: is that CH4GE a code?

Eh, who knows.

I've been in constant communication via SMS as well with a few sales people from 1 reseller and 2 corp stores. They're all feeding me the same top secret info for the 15th. I believe them :)

i got it to work from TN, not considered by vzw to be midwest according to their tumblr page.

but like has been said a million times and for whatever reason people are overlooking it, having it noted on your account that you qualify and actually getting the discount in the store are 2 different things. it may very well be the case that when you go to checkout, the store will not or may not be able to give it to you. have to wait and see.

edit: i also mentioned earlier and didnt get noticed as well, the rep i spoke with on the phone specifically told me that the promo is not applied at checkout, but rather sent to you in 4-6 weeks n the form of a verizon $100 debit card

Why do people expect every single memo, drawing, etc to come out of a corporate environment to look like its been drawn by a world renowned artist? Things like these aren't for public consumption, they are for internal use. Planograms especially come in all kinds of styles. Fake or not, this is definitely acceptable.

  • Quad core will not impact apps so much as battery life. Quads will smoke the current devices in juice consumption.
  • 2GB is more future-proof than 1GB.
  • Bloatware is easily removed if you root and freeze.
  • Great point.

For me, it was never about ICS so much as it is about a big, HD screen with no buttons. I think that's why the TP is so appealing to me.

If it doesn't drop before the TP, I won't be getting it probably. Not to "teach Verizon a lesson", because one person isn't enough to even cause a small ripple. I just know that CES is less than a month away, and I'm off contract with Verizon now, so I'll get to see what's coming down the pipeline not only for Verizon, but also for the other carriers that actually care about releasing phones in a timely manner.

If there is a monster coming out, I'd rather plunk down the ETF for my wife's line, or maybe even just get my own line somewhere else and live in a divided household.

I'm so fed up being Verizon's hostage.

Exactly....... why hold yourself hostage as Han has said when you know Google will be releasing a new Nexus WAY before your 2 year contract is over?
Look at the prior release dates of the "Nexus" phones. Signing a 2 year contract for a phone that is literally over 2 months old in my opinion is not the correct thing to do.
Obviously VZW is having issues with the LTE radio not working properly on their network. (IMO)
Folks have been using the GSM version world wide for a couple of months now. Read about their issues...........hmmmmmm
If you own this phone for 1 year and a new Nexus comes out, how are you saving much money. Your ETF would for the most part cancel any savings you might get from signing that contract.
This is all connected to VZW. If you must stay with "the best network" at any and all costs, so be it. I for one do not have to be a VZW slave..........thank goodness

BTW..........probably has been posted but Newegg is selling the GSM version with free shipping. ATT or TMO.
