I doubt that January is true, but, again, anything is possible. I will say this, though, if it does launch in January I will have to pass. As much as I love and want this phone in January there will be many new phones being announced to lock into a 2 year contract on a phone that was announced last year.

Right this second I have two upgrades available, so I'm actually looking forward to only having the Nexus for a short time. But if I didn't have two, I'd definitely be holding off if it were a Jan release.

Nah, what that is, and what everyone is complaining about (I've gotten these too, so annoying!), is that Apple formats MMS messages like group chats. Think of those chat rooms on AOL back in the day. One person sends a message, picture, etc, and "mass-texts" them to everyone. People with the iPhone who reply see it as a group conversation, but in reality it's like a "reply-all", and it sends it to everyone who was sent the first message.

Us Android people (and everyone else who has a mobile phone that ISN'T an iPhone) just sees message after message of people we don't know with messages that start off as "Re:Re:Re:Re:" or something.

Just another reason to hate Apple: they are insistent on breaking traditional SMS and MMS standards to suit their own desires

how did these 2 random people i dont know get my phone number, then? and text at the same time?

I've only see this come in handy one time during a mass text but otherwise its just annoying!

it still amazes me that after 82800+ posts, people still come out of lurking saying "been here since page 50 and you guys are awesome". just goes to show how awesome this place is and how well moderated it is that people can stomach lurking for 75000 posts and not leave us yet :D

+1. I've been on several other non-phone forums where the regulars aren't very kind to newbies and if you don't know the forum etiquette then you get blasted. VERY friendly bunch here and very well modded. Is modded a word?

I don't know what it says about me, but I can't ever just read a forum. One page in and I need to register.

What would be even better news in my opinion, hearing from those that were able to purchase the nexus early that they received the ota to 4.03 ;)

I highly doubt the servers in charge of the LTE version's updates are online yet.

FWIW, he had to order his through Verizon and said they will not give out phones to reps that haven't launched or are about to in the very near future.

So last week I called off my quest for a Nexus. However, the $100 promotion may have made me change my mind.

So while I was on the phone with a very helpful CSR (April) regarding an unrelated issue, I asked her about the 3G to 4G promotional mailer that my friend received and asked her if I was eligible. Within a few minutes she said "Yes, by the looks of it you are eligible as long as you have an upgrade on the account. And you do... Is there any device you might be interested in?"

I replied. "Well, I was hoping to wait for the Galaxy Nexus..."

She laughed and said "Yeah you're actually the second person in a row that I've talked to about that phone. It seems like everyone is waiting for that one! We don't even know when it will come out! I guess we will know when you know..."

I then asked if the $100 promotion will show up on my account when I upgrade and she said that she will note what we talked about so that all the info will show up. She explained it to me that I will have to mail in my 3G phone when I upgrade and once Verizon receives it they will mail me a $100 debit card.

So, I have finals on Thursday, next Monday and next Tuesday, meaning that I won't get hands on my baby until Tuesday afternoon. Sounds bad right? Well to top it off, until then, I have to use a Samsung Rogue whose "p", "b", and "e" keys do not work along with an unresponsive top-left quadrant of the touch screen. You think you have it bad?? Almost there...stay strong...

I honestly think that some of us have lost a bit of perspective. The vast majority of people could care less about the Galaxy Nexus. Indeed, the vast majority of people would have no idea what it is. Most of us are techies who read and participate on the IT and computer publications, blogs and sites. We aren't even the close to the average Verizon customer.

Verizon has a vested interest in selling as many Razrs as possible this holiday season. It's likely an easier sell to most folks than a Google phone. I would imagine that some would be put off by a Google phone (they don't know Android, Google, etc.). Most just want a phone that's cool looking, has the features they want and is easy to use.

Verizon has a limited marketing budget. Even co-op dollars from the manufacturers only go so far. I wouldn't be surprised if the phone comes out Thursday to limited fanfare. The hope may be that word of mouth may quickly build, in addition to an increased ad push in January. Maybe they hope to get expiring new year contracts and the money kids received as gifts over the holidays...

I disagree with only us know about it. My neighbor does battery spill containment for Verizon and has an in with their higher ups. He was sent to a specific guy at our local store and specifically had to identify himself. This was yesterday he went in and he was told 50 people just yesterday came in that day alone so far asking for this phone. Now I don't live in a very technical area. Actually I can see corn and cows from my front door so I seriously doubt its a bunch of us going in asking about this phone. BTW, my neighbor does know tech either and he wouldn't even be asking if it wasn't for me telling him to get this phone.
