....at east one source. i've found quite a few apps running in the background that i had to force stop. i went into app settings under "running".

not sure if a task killer is the answer, as they only served to drain the battery more on previous droid phones.

ICS just doesn't have a way of killing background tasks, that i've been able to find anyway.

settings -> developer options -> check the box for "don't keep activities" or change "background process limit" to the number of your choice. ;)

hmm i just tried it and all my widgets disappeared of the home screens and the app drawer as well. i unchecked it and they all came back through setting in the notifications bar.

is there a way around that? is that normal? thanx again

whoa! thanks for the heads up. i haven't actually tried it, as i just carry an extra battery and don't worry about all the battery saving practices. the only reason i even knew that option existed was because i saw it when turning on USB debugging to unlock through ADB. hopefully someone else can chime in and let us know if it works without killing widgets for them. you could also try counting your widgets and setting the background process limit to that number, but no guarantee that it will fix the issue.

LOL! at first i was like "what the heck did this guy tell me to do!" lol

i guess it's a little buggy. so, if that happens with yours just uncheck it and do it again :)

I uninstalled ATK, and keep a bunch of widgets and a live wallpaper going.. and generally don't bother killing too many or any apps via the multi-task button.

Only thing I do, is religiously hit the power/sleep button after I'm done with whatever I'm doing - be it a text, email, whatever. Keep the screen usage down and you win.

3rd day now on standard battery, and on each of them I am getting 9+ hours on a charge.

Like I say, only thing I make sure to do is hit the power button any time I'm done with the phone to turn the screen off immediately. Screen has been the #1 power drain on both smart phones I've owned.

Beyond that it comes down to how much you use it. Use the thing as a laptop and use it non stop for hours - of course you'll drain the battery. No amount of "tweaking" will alleviate that significantly.

Anyway. On a workday I was looking at 14 hours on a charge. Weekend now, 9 hours+. All on stock battery. I'm looking forward to the extended one.

If people are really having issues of the phone going dead overnight I'm most inclined to think it must be a faulty battery - or a lot of poorly manufactured batteries.
