Those are older models that dont have room for a bigger OS update. Our phones are asically the same thing as the GSM S2 so if that's getting ICS, no reason ours shouldn't.
Rumor has it that Cyanogen Mod will roll out its ET4G Rom in January. Hope so because as soon as it drops I'm flashing that bad boy. If you wait for an update you might be waiting 6 or 8 months down the line. Rooting and flashing you wait a couple of weeks.

Why? What do you see with ICS thats so great you need it right now? Just curious. I played with it on the Nexus Galaxy and wasn't really blown away. Just basically a few minor changes. Nothing I can't do with GB
Its more efficient than GB. Not just the obvious "themed" enhancement. The programming has better battery life, better support for multi core chips, and other tweaks to make the OS a lot more efficient. Runs smoother than GingerBread. I.E. less force closing and less lag. That is enough to make me want it as soon as possible. Not to mention ICS + Cyanogen will be amazing.
I can get almost 2 days from this phone without a charge. GB runs very smooth to me and I have never had a FC except from words with friends which crashes every phone (lol)

Same here. I am running Go Launcher and my phone is plenty fast and rarely force closes. Handcent used to but I am now using Go SMS, no problems at all. In fact, this phone feels much smoother and faster to me than the Galaxy Nexus running ICS did. The keyboard lagged terribly, so did the browser. In fact there is a video of the Nexus with the S2 and iPhone 4S, the lag on the Nexus compared to the other two was just unacceptable. So that argument flies right out the window.
Your right the Galaxy Nexus has more lag than the Epic Touch but that's not from ICS that's from the Nexus having a TI OMAP Chipset opposed to our Exynos Chipset. Exynos is just faster. But with ICS Exynos will be even better. Not wanting to upgrade to ICS is crazy. Its like telling a car manufacturer that no I wouldn't like 50 MPG ill stick with my 40 MPG thank you. Makes no sense.
