Ice cream sandwich?

Here's a recent article on the phone mfg's and various carriers take on the ICS
Google's Android Update Alliance Is Already Dead | Jamie Lendino | PCMag.com
I'm quoting one line that caught my attention.
"We were thinking 1-GHz single-core as a baseline for Ice Cream Sandwich..."
With the commando being 800mhz it's an "iffy" possibility. I don't know if we'll get it or not or even if it's possible but we can hope.

What's so special about ics?

From what I've read it's mainly speed and ease of use.
Here's a recent article explaining whats new:

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich review: Cool, confident, chaotic | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

and another hi-lighting the differences between (our commando's) 2.3 gingerbread and ICS 4.0:

Android 2.3 Gingerbread vs. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

If nothing else I saved somebody some "Google time" if they follow the links above. My interest is mainly because I have a Xoom and I know ICS is coming to it. I still have my doubts that the commando will see it.

i found a post under htc thunderbolt in this forum about the thunderbolt getting ICS there is a link in there to a site that filters through all the rumors and checks them. About which devices are getting ICS which arent and why, currently commando is not in either of these lists so the possibility is still there

Anything new on this front? I am a webOS user and if I move to Android, I would like to have ICS. Mr. Duarte who was with Palm and was one of the designers of webOS has been instrumental with the development of ICS. The user interface should be better than earlier versions of Android.

Also, there may be rumors of a new Casio ruggedized smartphone, one that will have a faster processor so ICS should work better.
