What does it mean here when it says 'the 3D effect cannot be switched off'?

Help What does the "3D" aspect of the handset mean? Can it be switched off?

That just means there is no option to turn off the 3D capability on the phone. Therefore, if you play a 3D movie it will show in 3D, if you show a 3D picture it will show in 3D. The only time you will see 3D is if you watch/play/take 3D movies/games/pictures. I've owned the phone for over 5 months and have yet to use the 3D feature. The whole user interface is not 3D.

I think it just means that if you decided to record something in 3D, then when you play it back on the phone, it will play it back in 3D. There doesn't seem to be a setting to let you play 3D movies back in 2D directly on the phone.

not true... you can turn the 3d on and off during playback (through the gallery)... just touch the screen while it's playing and the 3d/2d button is in the top right corner

Confirmed as well.
I use the feature all the time when I have multiple people looking at my phone when watching a video. Most likely, not everyone will be aligned for 3D, so I simply toggle it to 2D.
The reviewer simply didn't realize it could be toggled back and forth.
You can totally use this phone and never take a 3D pic or watch a 3D video or photo.
