Twice now Verizon reps turn me away from the Galaxy Nexus!

This is nothing new. When my wife went to get her Nexus S more than a year ago, they didn't have one on dispay at all. The Best Buy salesperson had to go to the backroom to get one. She brings it out and whispers conpiratorially: "I REALLY like these..."

Clearly, salespeople have promotions, bonuses, etc. in mind when recommending phones.

Your story makes me glad I just get my upgrade online and don't have to deal with any sales reps. But the rep you talked to should get some credit for at least mentioning the Maxx and not the regular Razr that Verizon seems to be pushing (with new colors and not mentioning the new model with the bigger battery).

I did my research on these forums mostly and checked a couple reviews, also trying to decide between the Nexus and the Razr. In the end, unlockable bootloader, stock Android in addition to being the newest version, and the bigger screen won out for me.

i just enjoy reading this, my friend droid does!! on other forums, used to work at vzw store in my town, he no longer works there because he chose not to, and told me that the site manager does not know what an apk is, and that half the employees arent real phone enthusiasts, and they just want the paycheck. he told me he enjoyed his job and teaching people the concepts of the android world, and how it works. and he also learned a little something about the individual to give them a phone fit for their needs, and i do not believe he only tried to sell android, i believe he was a great salesman and was able to find out what people do with their phones and made great decisions on what they should get.

i wish he didnt leave there, cause he was a cool guy to go in and chat with from time to time

I feel fortunate having a good local store. Most of the sales peeps are phone nerds and were just as excited about the Nexus as I was when I bought it on release day. They know all about rooting and ROMs, and the release delays of the Nexus and were upset that Verizon (who they work for remember) was able to sneak two VZW apps onto a Nexus phone. I actually overheard a sales rep telling someone to never use VZ Navigator because it was garbage, and to use Google Maps/Navigator instead. There are about a dozen employees in that store and NONE of them have an iPhone and many of them have a Nexus or Rezound.

Every VZW employee I've had the "privilege" to talk to has been, let's say, less than informed. Basically what I've noticed is VZW employees will NOT TRY to sell you a GNex. They'll sell you a Razr, they'll sell you a Rezound, they'll be more than happy to sell you an iPhone, but for whatever reason they do not want you to get a Nexus. I even had one employee tell me that she couldn't understand why I bought the Nexus and that she completely hated it because it "doesn't have a menu button".

Needless to say, I don't listen to Verizon employees. If you want the Nexus they can't stop you from getting a Nexus. They are, after all, rated #1 in customer satisfaction. I think the Nexus is sort of the red-headed step child for lack of a better way to explain it. Way I see it Verizon doesn't really want to push it since it doesn't have all of their bloatware.

Hey guys!!

I am writing this post from my new Galaxy Nexus! Ive had it for afew hours so far and looovvveee it so far. Omg this screen is amazing compared to that baby 3.5 incher the iphone has. Im so happy to be back on Android and have all these widgets and custom options are heaven to me.

I just walked my happy ass into Verizon and told the rep that as a power user, the iphone just didnt suffice. He asked "howso" and i told him my reasons. Open sourcing, large screen, 4Glte speeds, etc... and between the 3 reps that were on shift they figured out how to honer the return policy and exchange my Iphone 4S for my new Nexus.

I came into this knowing there may be a glitch here and there but am confident that between updates and rooting tweeks that i made the right choice.

The iPhone by far was the most overrated phone ive ever owned and i want no part of the mindless sheep who for some reason walk around with there smug smiles because they think they own the best phone out. The whole apple sheep thing really makes me sick.

Thumbs up, it's amazing that you had to convince them u wanted the Nexus. They should be happy you are getting any other phone not just returning the original. I guess it's the incentives, we already know Verizon didn't advertise the Nexus much and purposely announced it quietly. Maybe all the other manufacturers give Verizon a lot more money/benefits to push their products.

I'm amazed that they would try to steer an informed customer away from a phone that he/she clearly wants. They risk pissing off said customer and losing them as a sub. all together. And like kg says, you should never have to convince them of anything! They should be kissing your ass as you hand over your $$ for whatever you want! Bizarre. Glad I have a cool biz rep who was just as excited to give me the Nexus as I was to get it (he couldn't stop playing w/ the damn thing).
