Are there any simple launchers with no themes, that keeps the stock user interface (in my case a Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1) but improves the smoothness and overall user experience? I've yet to find a launcher that doesn't have missing icons or that doesn't wipe all my icons off the homescreen. Any suggestions?

I just use the "GO Launcher" app, no themes. I just add my own icons. I use Multi-Picture Live wallpaper so I can put a different image on each screen, and just download icons from my browser whenever I feel like changing one.

Do you know if it's possible to run GO Launcher without changing the theme, thereby only using it's smoother operation?

Yeah I use Go launcher too very nice very customizable I also use the Honeycomb Go launcher theme by Urtegata https://market.android.com/details?...sIm5vLnVydGVnYXRhLmdvX3RoZW1lX2hvbmV5Y29tYiJd
Unfortunately I don't like that you can't use HTC widgets or any stock widgets on it but they have some pretty nice widgets for go launcher like SMS weather messages contacts you can even change the theme of your unlock screen ICS unlock screen! overall a good launcher I recommend it if you want a good launcher

When you install a launcher, think of it as a blank slate. You can set it to what icons to show on the dock and whatnot. Turn on Go Launcher, and then remove the phone icon and put another shortcut there that you would want to use rather than that.

Launchers will of course wipe the icons off the screen, because its a different screen. Just put the icons and widgets again on the new screen.
