Root [ROM]|Feb 6 2012| Energy

After running this rom for a few weeks I will give my personal review. Now remember this is just my opinion.

*PROS*
Sense 3.5
Clean
Stable
Improved Camera
Blue Energy Theme
Needed Pre installed apps( i.e. TB,WiFi Teahtering)
Music App A+++(has built in eq)
Messaging app(has sigs and backups built in)
Backups built in
Fast

*CONS*
Large rom
Loading Circle(believe it's ugly)
pre installed apps
Battey life( I will explain later)
NO MMS(can be fixxed)
NO WiMAX

Now as we can see there are more pros than cons. But those cons could keep you from flashing this rom.

Overall this is a very good rom.I mean this is probably the most stable rom i've ran so far. No random reboots, no lagging between screens. It's good looking and the blue theme paired with sense 3.5 gives a refreshing new look to our 2 year old EVO's. The amount of customization that has been added to this rom is amazing. Multi lock screens, boot animations, status bar tweaks and much more. Oh and the pre installed apps both a good and bad thing. This app comes installed with alot of rooted user apps. TB, apps 2 SD, WIFI tether, data usage, a cpu tuner and a couple other things. Also it seems as if the creator wanted to keep the full HTC experience because all of the HTC apps that I assume comes with 3.5 is on this rom. My only real beef with it is the battery life and it's size, Right now TB is telling me this rom is using 367 out of 383 MB allotted for roms. Also with battery life I am asuming mt settings are incorrect but I took my phone off the charger with 100% battery and within 5 min I was down to 80%.

I love this rom BUT i cant receive or send MMS....is this just me or is anyone else suffering from this issue?

Edit: poop, that's what I get for not checking what's on page two!
Easy to miss the second page while using the app on the phone. :D

You probably need to do a prl and data profile refresh. Problem is, you can't update those on that Rom. :(
What you need to do is boot to recovery and make a backup of your current setup. Either flash a base sense Rom, MikG, Tommy's classic or the stock rooted Rom, OR just restore an old sense nandroid from one of your earlier setups. Update your PRL and data profile.
Then boot to recovery AMD restore your Energy nandroid.
If that doesn't work let us know and we'll troubleshoot from there. :)

I did just this and it still don't work. I Flashed the latest MikG Rom and have been using it for a few days. Updated the PRL and Profile. Last night I flashed the Energy 1/11 ROM again since I didn't Nandroid backup it the first time due to it not working fully. Still the same as the first time. No MMS and the Voicemail app don't work.

Did you try the APN Backup/Restore fix mentioned in the xda thread?

No, not yet. If I Nandroid my current ROM which is Energy, can I just restore it after doing this?

Yeah, that should be fine. (1) Nandroid your current Energy, then (2) load up your nandroid of MikG and get the APN using the app, then (3) restore your nandroid of Energy and apply the saved APN using the instructions in the thread.

You don't have to wipe anything before you do a restore. don't have to wipe anything before you make it, either.

question is, what did you select to backup when you made the nand, and are you partitioned?

If you are partitioned, when you make a nand, you have to select sd ext too, or when you restore almost everything will be missing.

Yes it is and I didn't know that. So all the backup's i've done lately are no good I assume?

Unfortunately if they all were made after you partitioned and you didn't check sdext, yes. So for now just load up a fresh copy of MikG or Classic, get the APN from there, then flash Energy again.

I just flashed the latest Warm ROM so I'm gonna play with it a little, get the APN with it and Flash Energy again soon. Thanks for the info everyone.

The newest version is up today, the changes have not been posted as of this reply.

I was looking forward to trying this, but so far the dev said of the the changes
The kernel in Feb 6 release is still the stock kernel... other than that.. just some graphics changes
So I may hold off if a2sd still requires a workaround like before. (I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I cannot get a2sd to easily work properly on any rom unless it is baked in and works off the bat).

newest update just flashed and the mms problem is back???

MMS wasn't working and it was killing me. Following advice in this thread, backed up Energy, restored MikG, updated profile and PRL, downloaded APN app from the market (TB the app) and ran the APN backup. Restored Energy, TB restore of APN, restored the backed up APN and reboot. Perfection! You will even be able to view the pictures that you couldn't previously download

As for VVM, Google Voice is THE only way to go, especially if you're a flashaholic. I was skeptical, started using it a few months ago, and now couldn't be happier. Make sure to go to google voice from your computer to check out all of the customizable settings.

Last note, tried to restore Energy without wiping and got a UID warning. Went back, did a superwipe a few times, and restored. Good to go.

Thank you again to everyone at AF!

Lucky you, I guess my problem is I am on Boost Mobile with my evo, I have tried all the fixes for mms and can't get it to work. I have apn manager pro, I have restored apn's, I have edited the apn in the messaging app, I can only send pics if I am on the OG sense. I can however receive mms messages, which is frustrating, because I feel like I am so close. I will try some other roms to see if I can get it working, I feel like throwing my phone against a wall sometimes. oh well, I will keep fighting the good fight. :(

So, I flashed this rom for stuff and grins and it is very smooth and fast except for a wifi issue. The wifi works at home but it could not connect at my gym. I was able to connect at my gym with Decks rom but not this one. I tried to forget and reconnect and it still did not work. Put in airplane mode and turned airplane mode off and nothing. Any suggestions?
