Root 2.1 Launcher.

Because you aren't trying the right ones. Koush's ROM, actually compiled from source, not piggybacked on one of those releases, has launcher2 running stable as can be. Only problem is landscape, which you can fix with the modded launcher2 from xda-developers. This will be fixed once the code over at AOSP is worked out, and recompiled in the ROM.

And behind me as well.

While I have to admit that ESE53 builds have been, for the most part, more stable than previous 2.1-based ROMs, I still miss the sleek styling of the 3D animation of the rolling apps in the drawer, along with modifications that allowed the shortcut for phone on the left and the browser on the right, with indicator dots telling you which home screen page you are on....

I heard from a friend this morning that Motorola might wait until Froyo before pushing out an update, so to give the DROID the 3D app launcher and 5 homescreens. Current version in testing is FRE68..

Reminds me of...

Economics Teacher: Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Simone: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Economics Teacher: Thank you, Simone.

Simone: No problem whatsoever

Kinda but this guy is a mod on HoFo and there are a lot of insiders on that forum. Makes it slightly more believable. People on HoFo were talking about ERE25 and ESE53 long before anyone got their hands on them

So true - I have always found HoFo a great resource for info - I just lurk there, though....

Hey guys -- new to forum -- trying to get some "tech help" on the 2.1 launcher. I have pretty much everthing done. Phone is rooted -- have Bugless installed and a Chevy kernel. Overclocked, tethering, etc.

Trying to install the Launcher2.apk as prescribed here:

"Not sure, but this should work. First download Launcher2.apk and place it in the root of your sdcard and then open terminal emulator (download from the market if you don't have it).

open terminal and type the following:

su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
busybox cp -R /sdcard/Launcher2.apk /system/app
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
sync
reboo"

When I enter the busybox line it tells me access denied. Any help appreciated.

Code:
adb shell chmod 755 /system/xbin/busybox

See if that helps. Everything you are typing is correct, so there isn't much else it could be.
