Um, what about all the other apps that provide external links and are tied into the web browser?
Not being able to make it the default browser is a big issue for me, personally.
I still prefer xScope.

Yes, and that thread concluded that you can't make it the default browser at this time.

opera mini is a lot faster but when I go to lets say joystiq.com on the default browser it brings me to a mobile version of the website which is just a list (which i like) but when i go to the website on opera mini it brings me to the regular site with pictues and stuff.. anyone know y?

Go to the settings in the Opera. It is not defaulted to Mobile viewing. You have to check mark it in there. Hope that helps. It definitely seems faster than Dolphin that I was using.

install opera desktop on your pc
import from your existing browser (ie, ff, etc)
sign up for opera link free
sync your bookmarks
go into app on phone
settings>opera link
sign in
sync
done

Opera, Fennec, Dolphin. I don't think the stock Android browser is based off of Google Chrome or anything. It's been asked before, but why hasn't Google jumped in with a multiplatform browser? One that supplants the one in Android handsets and the others that are available in markets of other OSs as downloads?

I'm loving it so far. A lot faster to load than the stock browser. As of right now no complaints.

It is blazing fast! And it also has a slick interface.
However, the rendering leaves a lot to be desired. Some of the mobile versions of websites makes me feel like I am browsing on a blackberry, which is definitely not a good thing!
It definitely needs more optimization for touch screen phones like more control over zooming.
Hopefully these issues will be sorted when it comes out of beta and it can then replace the stock browser.

The only advantage I see that this has over the stock browser is page load speed, that's it. The interface takes up too much space, no pinch zoom, no flash, pages look funny sometimes, etc. I'll wait for Opera mobile.

I used Opera mini 5 beta a lot on my old feature phone so it really doesn't take any getting used to.
This version absolutely flies on the mytouch, it will definitely replace the default browser.

By gosh the Mini is for Androids, and most else, and the Mobile is for those other two.
