First off, a little background:
I'm quite technical when it comes to PC's, used Windows and Linux, used the BIOS for various things, overclocked, programmed etc etc etc. However, when it comes to phones I've never been so inclined. I simply used what I could afford. However, a few days ago I bought the samsung galaxy note as I wanted a smartPhone, because I thought it would come in useful when I'm out and about and as I realised I wasn't making as much use out of my phone as I wanted simply because it was laggy and couldn't do such things. I had no knowledge of smart phones other than what I'd gained when looking for which one to buy, and this is why my knowledge is limited.
My phones running smoothly and I get 3.8k on quadrant without overclocking, however, I checked today and whereas before my Android OS battery usage was on 7%, it is now on 63%. Surely this should not be so? The battery has drained by about 30% even whilst locked / on standby. How should I fix this?
I know risks of rooting my phone and changing the ROM, but I don't know how likely that is to happen. Is it worth rooting if the phone will be getting ICS soon anyway? The only reason I would want to root the phone would be for smoother running / faster running and better battery usage, as I don't mind anything else with the phone at the moment - so is it worth taking the risk? Also bear in mind that I have no experience with smart phones, let alone androids (believe it or not I'd never even used an iPhone), however I do have knowledge of flashing BIOS's etc etc.
Any help?
Thank you
