Updated[13.2.12] Discuss all Samsung Galaxy S III rumors/release date/speculation/news

I hope said "tipster" is legit. I posted this in the AC forums a few days ago, hopefully it will become a reality.

"In light of the recent Kies software GS 3 spot, I am really considering that the GT-i9300 (and T model) will in fact be the next iteration in the Galaxy S line and Samsung's next truly flagship device (GT-i9800 possibly) will be named something else entirely. Why go through all the secrecy and hype of releasing your "next" premier phone, only to blatantly display it through your own software a week early?"

Does anyone remember this article from Engadget a few months back?

Samsung's GT-i9300 is probably not the Galaxy S III, as revealed by its low-res screen - Engadget

Maybe the GT-i9800 is the flagship aka SGS3 and the GT-i9300 is something else entirely to do with the other Samsung Galaxy ranges?

I do feel 2 phones are definetely going to be announced on Thursday, i do hope that whatever the SGS3 is that it IS the actual flagship handset from Samsung.

Guess you haven't seen this 4 Galaxy Phones

No one said they would be leaving the Galaxy name, but perhaps the i9300 is not the true "next" Galaxy flagship device and the i9800 is.

Sure, so that makes the argument even stronger, why have all of those and now introduce another one ? They have enough already.

I'm going to go with the original guess that the i9300 is a downspec version.

Maybe we'll see them all being called the S3 but with a different suffix - lets say S3 Draco, S3 Virgo, S3 Hydra (all names of galaxies). It would basically reflect what they've done with the galaxy models in that link.
Or maybe just S3 and S3 Pro ?

Its just naming anyway.

the only reason they said that it wasn't the s3 is because of the reported screen resolution, which was wrong. lots of benchmarks have since released with the correct 720p resolution

The blogs are going to tell you whatever you want to see so that you click on their blog title and generate ad revenue for them. I bet a blog could be titled "Galaxy S3 rumored to be able to flip pancakes" and it would probably get a lot of ad revenue from clicks.

Too bad the ad folks couldn't force the sites to have a button that said "Shameless post for click thru revenue? Press Here to revoke the funds"

Don't be surprised to see snapdragon dual core on Att ...MAYBE exynos quadcore on Tmo (no lte issues..they don't have lte) actually heard some rumors they might be getting an exynos version of the note

most of what you have read should be true...although most of the pictures online are "lunchbox" photos ...internals in a generic shell.

I don't know much more than I did before my lunch with a friend today. They have kept info EXTREMELY limited. These guys are not even certain of what all will be revealed on Thurs.

worldwide simultaneous june release if that is even possible. (I just don't see that happening)

Even if it ends up with S4 snapdragon on some carriers in US market, S4 is hugely more powerful than S3 dual snapdragon from last year in phones like Skyrocket, Rezound. That's way better than what your friend was vaguely implying at the beginning of year which had some of us worried.

I don't even rule out possibility of S4 pro in GSIII which has much faster Adreno GPU than normal S4. S4 Pro will be easily on par with or faster than quad Exynos 4412. From Qualcomm's roadmap, it's sampling just one quarter behind S4, so who knows. I guess we have wait for next round of flagship from Sammy for Exynos 5xxx/LTE beasts.

Snapdragon was underdog to Exynos, OMAP in performance until last year. So it left bad taste, negative perception in a lot of android fans. But new Krait S4 based on 28nm process is completely revamped one that can go head to head with Tegra3.

Why my dual-core S4 is as good as your quad-core | Android Central

Having said that, I still prefer new Exynos. Just wanted to point out new S4 snapdragon is not so bad one like S3 was to Exynos, OMAP last year.

I highly doubt T-mobile will get the quadcore Exynos.

Honestly, even though it would put the phones pretty much equal spec wise, it feels like having the S4 in lieu of a new, Exynos CPU is a loss to the HTC one X. It's going to be out on Sunday, and the S3 surely won't be out for at least another month.

Overseas is another story obviously, but personally i see no reason not to jump on the One X for those, like me, who have been holding onto their upgrades for the S3. Major disappointment :(

But if GSIII has better screen, form factor and removable large battery, I'd rather have it over One X. Fixed 1800mAh in One X is big minus for me.

Also the camera in GSIII might be better and who knows what other surprise features it might pack like wireless charging, water-proof nano coating, etc. There are a lot to find out in two days, not just processor spec.

I'll +1 to that.

Took the words right out of my mouth. HTC One X is great but I'm waiting to be wow-ed.

why is it hard to believe a GSM carrier would not get a direct port of the manufacturer version since LTE is not an issue?

like i already said, the s2 used snapdragon instead of exynos because tmobile uses 42mb hspa, which the exynos doesn't support. snapdragon does.

will the new exynos support 42? maybe. we'll see

aside from the razr maxx, the one x has some of the best battery life of any phone on the market. whats to be disappointed about?

you really want this phone to be awesome don't you :p

Just passing along what i heard homie. he did not know for sure. Like i said...very hush hush they are being.
Lol so no chance of a CDMA/LTE Exynos like the one they pulled of in Korea? I know its different.

Xtop just answered the question for me. I'm just assuming. If Tmobile gets the same processor as the international version, I'm going to get pissed. I'm might switch up. Lol
