Root Have you heard...root for 1.5

Well heck, my "fools I mean folks" phrase is obviously a joke.

OTD, Caddyman, et al have installed the 2.1 leak and they sure aren't fools.

This fellow with the "idiot" remark has issues inside if him, it appears.

No biggie. ;)

Eh...I was an upgrader, but I found Frisco's joke humorous myself. That was one of the things I weighed in while decided to upgrade, was the possibility of root being achieved. I'm surprised it was for 1.5, I had reached the point that I believed they'd exhausted their efforts. I'm glad they didn't. Even though it obviously doesn't benefit me, at least not yet, I think they've done a great job. They deserve the congratulations! That was one thing I did enjoy about the windows phones, was being able to slap a different ROM on the phone just because I wanted a change. It's satisfied the geek in me ;)

Issues? Do you always take the time to correct grammar? Sounds like I irked you as well since you had to take the time to correct me.

Its great to hear and don't worry up-daters, the devs over at xda had pretty much ALL updated to 2.1 leak since they put a call out for anyone with an un-updated phone to work on recently. I don't expect 2.1 root to be far behind at all since that is what is on their phones. Looking forward to the cooks to get baking. Yeah! Eris lives... I may hold off yet on another line and the nexus.

not too worried about it, have then even really released a actual tut or package or w/e that shows 1.5 users how to root?

if so great, if not, well, we are still in the same situation we were.

root will be great, very nice, if i have to wait a bit cause i updated, then so be it.

i'm with you Caddy. I enjoy 2.1 and now that they figured out how to root, they get working on rooting 2.1 after they release it.

Its funny how weeks ago, when we were still weeks away from root these forums were buzzing with "when will root come?" talk. Now that we actually got root the forums seem dead. What happened Eris users? I guess people are bitter because they updated. I'm a little bitter, but I'm still so excited for 2.1 root!

I'm here just silently watching and waiting for the "Instructions to root your Eris" thread to pop up. Until then then I'll just be wearing out the refresh button.

Ok maybe newbie question but if hero is rooted why not Eris? Couldn't we load a Rom for the hero and activate? VZW has blocks on meid but obviously ours would work. Just new to android and trying to understand. I know it might take some hacking to get the right prl on the phone but I thought the hardware was the same

I promise you that this was thought of a long time ago. The devs are so far ahead on this stuff that it will blow your mind. The short of it is that there are different ROM versions between the Hero and Eris and vulnerabilities present with the Hero were patched when the Eris kernel was released.

It just got quiet within the past few days. Not sure what's up, but the traffic on forums generally is like the tide. We're on low tide right now, regardless of whether the Eris has been rooted. The forum didn't erupt the night 2.1 was leaked, it was more like a day or two after it happened that threads popped up and people thought they were professional bloggers, giving their critique on an unfinished product.

But...most of us being on 2.1 doesn't help the fact 1.5 was rooted. You gotta question the devs decision to keep going with 1.5 root. They were even making threads asking for people with 1.5 to help out.
