After making the biggest mistake of my life (updating to 4.0.3), now the nightmare goes on. How do I go back to the old android (the one that came with the phone when I bought it) ????

I need a simple solution, my phone is not rooted and stuff like that, I'm a total noob when it comes to this things. I updated the phone by simply "clicking" on Update Software.

PS - Problem is that I can't remember which android I had...

I have the international version, unbranded I believe

I updated my Galaxy S2 two nights ago. What a mistake! Despite some of the new and improved features, the system freezes constantly. Most of my bought apps and games don't work anymore! On the previous version, I managed to tweak all the settings to get 2 days of regular use out of my battery. I am already on 7% at 13H00 on the first day.

I have used it for a few days now and noticed that the OS now uses 58% of my battery apposed to the previous 30 something %. My battery barely lasts 'til 15H00 from the morning's full charge. The freezing and unresponsive apps are driving me nuts. The previous version worked so well. v4.0.3 is an abomination!

Does anyone from Google actually read these forums?

I would also like to know how to roll back to the previous version. Alternatively, fix this shocking release Google!

Please Read The Following:

This is specific to my battery issue.
ICS v4.0.3 comes with a new feature called "Data usage". When you switch on "Use packet data" under "Mobile networks", Data usage automatically switches on and starts recording the amount of data your phone uses. This is useful for ensuring that you do not exceed the data cap on your account (If you have one).
Because Honeycomb v3.2 did not offer this feature, I ran an app called Onavo Count, which performs this function very well.
After updating my device, both Data usage and Onavo Count were running at the same time and draining my battery very quickly.
After uninstalling Onavo Count and managing data usage with the OS feature, my battery is performing a whole lot better.

I hope this helps people with the same problem!

download whichever firmware you need from here

SamMobile Firmware Page

Thats assuming youre in europe as those firmware are european ones.

GB will be any of the 2.3.* ones, latest official samsung release was 2.3.6

There are either unbranded ones or ones for individual carriers. Just check which you want.

Odin and instructions how to flash using it are in post 1 here [Stock Official ICS Firmwares] I9100XWLPD (4.0.3) - Nordic Countries (NEE) [17-05-12] - xda-developers

I'm from Romania and my phone is unbranded....so which one should I get? Should I download Open Europe Version?

id say so. I assume romania language must be included in it

Well I'm downloading the 2.3.3 firmware even though I have an extremely hard time remembering which one I had before...2.3.3 or 2.3.4?

If anyone knows what firmware is the GS2 from Germanos (bought the phone in November last year, maybe that's useful in some way) using, please tell me

UPDATE - the ID:COM thing doesn't turn to yellow. I am in download mode, I changed usb sockets...still doesn't work

Ok, I finally managed to install it. Everything looks fine even though I'm not sure if this is the android version that I had when I bought the phone (2.3.3)

The only problem that I have is that the phone doesn't display the SIM Contacts. I went to the options menu but except phone contacts (and google), there are no other options...any ideas?
