Root problem with bootstrap and rocko 3.0 locked

so I finally got to flashing a rom. i flashed rocko's 3.0 locked but i kept getting force closes for a phone process and my settings wouldnt work so i recovered back to stock. The recovery however kept freezing at a file called 1336834611.tmp so i figured that made it impossible to backup my apps. Now i have to re-download everything -.-

the question is was my backup corrupt or should i use something other than bootstrap to make backups?
the other question is i see that rocko 3.0 seems to impact battery a lot so is there a stable and great working version of rocko for my mopho with a locked bootloader?

What steps did you take prior to actually flashing Rocko, i.e.- formatting cache, data, etc? I ask because I ran into a similar f/c problem when I don't do exactly the steps below for Rocko. I've been using Rocko for a few weeks now and haven't noticed hardly anything glitchy.

As far as the backup, I also use bootstrap recovery so it sounds like you were doing it correctly.

Also on page one of that same forum is the version of Rocko that I'm successfully using. Hope this helps.

i don't think i cleared my data that is probably why...and how exactly does sbf work? cause it seems the same as a factory reset
hopefully this time nothing force closes
