(VZW) Nexus 4.0.X Update Discussion

I tried that, it seemed like it worked. I tried flashing CWM and it failed. I installed root checker to see, and it was not rooted

open the superuser app and go into settings (a wrench icon in the upper right corner). scroll down until you see the binary build number. It should say something like click to check for updates. I installed the updates and root worked.

I tried that several times. All went well until it tried to obtain root access. It failed every time.

If anyone is having problems re-rooting try this handy little toolkit. [GNex TOOLKIT V7.0] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MORE [SPRINT] - xda-developers

Edit: I noticed one of the "root checkers" in the store says you don't have root even though you really do. This on here will work properly https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwyLDYsImJ1cnJvd3MuYXBwcy5yb290Y2hlY2tlciJd

Good find! thank you! it even has IMM76K support ^_^ I hope this works!

Hasn't fixed it for me either. Software can't fix crap hardware. Signal is worse in most locations.

My signal with the 4.0.4 radios is slightly better but nothing dramatic. It does hand.off quite fast now, though. The mid-call muting thing irritates me. I will probably jump to the first 2nd Gen LTE phone that gets unlocked/rooted when/if that happens. I rarely use the phone, but it's still annoying. Luckily it has not happened during a critical call but it's to the point where I use my wife's phone or land line if I'm making a call and I can't afford a muting call. :(

So both you and jkc120 have had the mid-call issue? Are either/both of you 100% stock, non-rooted, and received the update OTA? Just trying to do an apples to apples comparison in case it happens to me.

I'm on AOKP b37 with the 4.0.4 radios. It has all the VZW OTA proprietary binaries so I don't see why it'd still have the issue while stock doesn't...

I'm 100% stock, non-rooted and I still get the mic muting mid call. Don't know what to do next as I don't want a phone still on gingerbread android and don't want a phone that doesn't have a removable battery.

How long have you been running it? You ought to give it a little time (couple days).

I will for sure, but I only posted that because my battery actually seems worse. Could totally be mistaken, maybe I'm playing with the phone more than usual. Also, navigating from one screen to the next on the Phandroid App is now like molasses. Gonna have to experiment a bit.

1. go to setting / apps then hit the all button at the top
2. scroll down to google services framework and then press it to open
3. hit the clear data button
4. go to settings / about phone / system updates (you will notice the date will be 1969 or 1970 this is ok )
5. hit the check now button
6. Nexus should show you the 4.0.4 update avaliable
7. hit install and enjoy

(I copied this off of xda forums...sue me)

I did this but now don't get the update notice LOL!
