Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

I just noticed that my tracking info shows that it's going to require a signature. This could be interesting since I, you know, work during the day. It's saying delivery should be by 3 pm. I gotta try and find a way around that - I really hate when companies send stuff to me via FedEx - they're the only delivery service I ever have issues with.

leave a note telling FedEx driver you authorize for him to leave at door step (or safe area you indicate) and that you assume all responsibility and sign/date it, it should work

I had that issue with a computer, I wasn't around to sign for it and didn't know I could leave a note, but I went on to the FedEx website and it gave me the option to pick it up at a FedEx site, that was amazing, picked up my computer on my lunch break! :D

Ok I called Best Buy and tormented them some more. I asked them to put the sku of my pre-order into their system and see if it gave them a street date. Reluctantly they did and now Best Buy's systems say 7/12 street date. Yesterday it said 7/10.

FYI even if Best Buy has the S3's in stock they can't sell them until the 12th the system won't apply the carrier discount. I discovered this last year when I almost got a Nexus early.

Yeah, I'll have to try that - thanks. I tried last time I had something requiring a signature via FedEx and they didn't leave it, but it can't hurt to try.

I've been following this thread closely and like many others, received an email today (Sunday) with FedEx info for delivery on Tues. On Saturday, I had sent an email via a form at the verizon wireless website to complain about how it seemed that order date (I ordered on June 14) did not equal to when orders were shipped. This is the response I received:

I'm Kevin and will be happy to assist with information about the preorder. Thanks for reaching out to us and I hope this e-mail finds you doing well! That's awesome that you've preordered the Samsung Galaxy S III and it's going to be such a great device. I can understand your frustration and concerns about the shipment of the device. I would feel the same way. We do send preorders out in the order in which an order was placed, but sometimes different regions of the country receive shipments at different times based on inventory of specific areas of the country.

Given what I've read on this thread, I don't see a connection between inventory/regions, but for those who may have been curious, this was the response given. I don't believe my order had shipped because of the email, I believe it was coincidence.

Ack, the Missus is in the Mall and both Verizon and T-Mobile have the SGIII in stock. I couldn't have gotten it from instore anyway since i'd had lost my Unlimited Data but she is very tempted to switch from AT&T to TMob just to get this phone.

Which means if she does come home with a shiny white phone i've lost this race!

At least the pending status on my CC has now moved to debited. No chance of me getting this Monday though :(

Oh man. I have to go change my shorts. This made me laugh so hard I pee'd myself. How can they even say such things with a straight face.

How did you get a tracking number without the offical email?

From the "Check Your Order Status" page on the VZW website's link on the preorder email - when I clicked on the + sign, it was blank at first but eventually filled in with a courier name and tracking number.

The official tracking number email has yet to arrive, but my phone is in San Antonio now. That's definitely closer than Memphis!

Yeah, the only reason I did it as early as the 27th was to keep unlimited data. Phone will be delivered on the 11th.

27th is pretty late compared to others. 6/14 here and nothing. From what I'm seeing, Verizon may have screwed up some orders and I may not see mine for a while if thats true :/
So pissed right now, not even a tracking number!

Ok... so my phone is at my local fedex facility, Gnex is prepped for my fiancee, removed all of her important data from her phone and showed how to put on the Gnex, and all of my stuff is on a memory card.

So long as fedex shows up at the normal time at work I'll have 30-60 minutes to activate her sim, swap sims, factory wipe my Gnex, get a bump charge on the GS3, and go to the airport.:p

I still haven't gotten that email saying it's shipped, the charge is still pending on my discover card from friday morning, called discover and they say it just takes time to clear over a weekend, so it should post monday and then maybe they will send the shipping email even know I already figured it out lol.

Update: called back to ask about the 2% cash back they have with cable/sat/cell providers, this will qualify for that. Also the rep informed me when you use discover for buying they approve the pending amount asap then it's up to the vendor to take the money then it posts. So the rep said she sees this all the time because VZW Accounts Recievables dpt is only open M-F.

Thought this would help anyone who is using there Discover card to buy the SG3.

Guess just have to wait till tomorrow :)

My order number was only five digits and while in limbo, padding with four, five or six leading zeroes alone didn't work for me. I finally got the shipment notification email and tracking number this morning. With that, I was able to see that the second half of my reference number was my order number padded with four zeroes *and* with a trailing 01. So my reference number format looked like:

A123456_00001234501

My status is shipping email received, have FedEx tracking number, but charge card not yet hit. Ordered 16GB blue late on 06/27 via verizonwireless.com. Could have sworn I was offered overnight shipping but getting 2-day. Per FedEx, ship date is July 8 and estimated delivery is July 11 by 7 PM. I'm no math genius but that adds up to three days on my fingers.

Hmmm, I just delurked. Guess I'd better go introduce myself.

-Dan
"2-day" shipping usually doesn't count the day the package is picked up. "Overnight" on the other hand, does.
