It had the right email address, but some bizarre name I probably used once upon a time when I was forced to register for something somewhere. I'm currently confused by the charger. It has this translucent dot on it that looks as if an LED ought to be behind it, but nothing is lit up when it is plugged in. I'm wondering if the charger itself lights up when the tablet is fully charged (I guess I'll find out eventually).

I may have missed it somewhere, but the MAC address doesn't seem to be printed on the package anywhere, and I have to get through the wifi setup before I can run anything like the "settings" app to find the MAC address. That made it a bit complex to connect since I have my router setup to deny access to all but known MACs. I had to turn that off long enough to get connected, finish setup, find the MAC address, then turn MAC filtering back on. That also leaves the impression that you can't possibly get through the initial setup unless you are in a valid hotspot somewhere.

The one Google sent me arrived today. It's being held at the UPS office and I think I'm just going to leave it there to refuse shipment since I bought one at Sam's on launch day. It is arriving a full 5 days later than when they hit the stores. Disappointing launch to say the least.

Haven't even looked at the charger. I've just been using the charger from my KF.

I think you definitely need wifi access as it's got to authenticate your account. I looked at mine and found serial number, but not a MAC address. You're probably in a minority doing MAC filtering.

Still haven't gotten an email besides the Google Wallet notification even though I ordered on the 6th. I take it I'm out of luck?

Well, B&H paid off for me. I ordered on the 4th and it arrives Friday!!! I saved almost $30 over directly from Google. I believe that I was an early order for them though. New orders are probably going to be September.

I just clicked the "that's not me" choice available on the setup screen.

It was really quite spooky to see my email appear automagically.

Not quite as spooky as signing up for the UPS My Choice was the other day though. They wanted to verify I was me, so they presented me with a bunch of stuff like old phone numbers that used to be connected to my house and car registrations that used to be associated with my address. (And this was just UPS - google knows *lots* more about me).

That makes three of us. I placed my order on the 8th and haven't seen anything other than the initial order confirmation either. I bought it as a gift too, and I know the recipient (my dad,) is super anxious to get his hands on it. Kind of a bummer I haven't heard anything yet and doing my best to not get discouraged.

Both of mine are gifts, but one is for me for my Birthday on the 29th. The other one is for the little guy in my avatar and his b-Day is tomorrow. :mad:

The kicker is I gave his (my retired) D2 away to a friend in need in anticipation of this. Seeing as there was no VZW to get in the way like the GNex launch, I figure what could go wrong. :rolleyes:

I'm giving Google until 12pm CDT tomorrow to send me my tracking number, otherwise I go with Sam's club. If I don't get that tracking number, they are going to get one nasty email. Will it help? Probably not, but Google needs to know that they have completely screwed us and we will not tolerate it. There is NO REASON for people that order today, to get tracking numbers before the earlier pre-orders. <- That is something that nobody can deny
How hard is it to do things sequentially??? Most 6 year olds already know how to count in order already
